An idea and project (dis)organization system
Life is busy and hard to keep track of. Work is usually worse. Why try to keep everything in your brain, or in a single notebook? Tiny Notebooks is a system for using thin, pocket-sized notebooks to track your projects, ideas, and day-to-day tasks.
The Tiny Notebooks system is inspired by Bullet Journal, Microsoft OneNote, Getting Things Done, Pile Of Index Cards, Do It (Tomorrow), Cardnets, the Hipster PDA, and the Internet's design for storing and retrieving information. Tiny Notebooks adopts lessons from each of them:
The Tiny Notebooks system is a system for tracking day-to-day tasks, multiple projects of arbitrary complexity, ideas, thought debris, and information you might want to refer to later. It is not intended as a substitute for a day planner, calendar software, reminder software, or a PDA in general. Electronic devices are good at tracking structured information and nudging you to use it in a structured way, and there is nothing wrong with using them for this purpose; Tiny Notebooks is for thought that doesn't lend itself well to text files on a smartphone.
The system described here is a means of thinking about a large pile of small notebooks as a tool for thought and note-taking; it doesn't get into what should be in your notes or what form they should take. Outlines, concept maps, and sketchnotes all work just fine with Tiny Notebooks, and the flexibility of ink and pen allows you to record your thoughts however fits them best.
