SRS Locomotive Works

Freeware Trainz Reskins since 2021

Update 12/25/2023

Merry Christmas everyone, no we're not dead! We're slowly upgrading all our assets to TRS19. This month we've overhauled some of our oldest assets- the U34CH and LIRR P72 coach. Both now have HD textures and ARN. Also joining the locomotive roster is a LIRR MP75 EMU. Lastly we ave our first TRS19 made route, called "Penn Central Bellfonte Branch," made with Basemapz. We're excited to see what 2024 has in store for us!

Update 6/18/2023

Happy Father's Day everyone! Just a small release this time- 3 variations of PAT's (Pittsburgh Heavy Commuter Rail) ex-B&O Budd RDC's, appropriate for layouts from 1975-1981. The next route we're working on is an interurban/trolley version of the classic route Tidewater Point Rail. It should be released by the end of this month.

Update 4/10/2023

I know it's been a hot minute since the site has been updated, but I've had IRL things to take care of during that time. That doesn't mean I haven't stopped making content. There are some new sounds for your 1st and 2nd generation diesels, designed to replace the aging default Auran sfx. This is just a little teaser, but we'll soon be uploading more content during the summer months.

Update 8/23/2022

We're back! After a long, cross-country move and after four months of work, our megaroute Ohio River Valley is now available for download in the Maps section! With all the detail and line capacity we put into this project, we hope it was worth the wait.

Update 5/10/2022

Hello everyone, a quick update this time. Now available for download are 10 different Penn Central E8 locomotives. We may or may not be posting as much new content since we've started building a new modern-era megaroute called "Ohio River Valley." So far it's about 25% done and covers over 50 baseboards! We'll try and give updates as the building progresses.

Update 04/16/2022

Happy Easter everyone! This update now includes three (and a half) new engines: CNJ ALCO RS3 #1554- which now resides at Steamtown, a Penn Central ex-NH Budd RDC, and a New York Ontario & Western F7A and F7B (using JR meshes.) There's also a variety of new hornsounds available too.

Update 02/28/2022

After a month-long absence, we're finally back making content- and loads of it. We're proud to announce we have a new route to release- a remastered edition of a Trainz Pro Routes Classic. The Lots Creek Branch is now remastered with loads of JointedRail content and HD textures. Long Island fans will surely enjoy this update- we released four RS1s (each in a different pain scheme), Baldwin DS4-4-1000 #450 and GE 44 Tonner #400. A new member joins the ever-growing roster of USRA Mikados- NYC #1849. For those who model the modern era, there is now SEPTA Silverliner II railcar and Amtrak's semi-new special interest unit #46. There's also a ton of new horns available to download too.

Update 01/06/2022

Happy New Year all! We're proud to announce we have a new route to release- a remastered edition of a Trainz Pro Routes Classic. The Lots Creek Branch is now remastered with loads of JointedRail content and HD textures. And, a SEPTA Silverliner II railcar joines the locomotive roster.

Update 12/20/2021

Merry Christmas all! This month's updates have been heavily centered around the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in Pennsylvania. Using the technology of Google Maps, we've released a 1:1 recreation of the line, and we think this sort of accuracy will raise the bar for route building. Matching trains are also available, they include 2-8-0 steam engine #40, GP9 #8218, and a Reading style coach. SS&S 26 is also released as well as one or two new horns.

Update 11/12/2021

Lots of new updates have been made over the last few weeks, but we will list only the highlights or else we'll be here all day! In the locomotives section, we are happy to present an EMD E8 in NJ Transit mist gray and black. It comes equipped with a custom horn, but more on that later. These engines also have matching passenger cars, which are now available in the Rolling stock downloads section. Speaking of rolling stock, we also now have SEPTA comet commuter cars available for download, the cab car also features a custom horn. You may also notice we added a Hornsounds page- we have some great recordings available whether it be for our assets our if you want to put it on your locomotives. There are many more horns still in testing, and we're hoping to release a lot more in the future. And for those of you that keep asking, we're still working on the SS&S 26 model, have to work out a few bugs first.

Update 10/25/2021

Happy Halloween all! We're so happy to announce that our first route, a 1:1 recreation of the New Jersey Museum of Transportation layout, is now available for download! We based this layout anywhere from the 1990s to the early 2000s, when steam locomotives usually powered the weekend trains. Matching equipment is already available for download in the Locomotive and Rolling Stock downloads section, respectively.

Update 10/19/2021

The site is officially now open! We're so happy to finally create some obscure and less well-known locomotives in the Northeastern USA. We've added various chop-nose diesels, as well as a few narrow gauge steam engines from the New Jersey Museum of Transportation. As far as rolling stock goes, we've added three new passenger cars, as well as a reskin of the hi-res Trainz Forge bobber caboose. Last but not least, we've added a map download section- which we're still working on. We hope to feature our first route "Pine Creek Railroad" by the end of this month.
