Pool Openers should provide adequate notice of their intention for Pool duty and commit to a minimum of five pool openings during each season;
Pool Openers ARE NOT LIFEGUARDS – pool users use the pool at their own risk;
Openers operate with the authority of the Parish Council and their direction must be respected at all times.
Pool Openers administer the Swimming Pool during public open sessions; There will always be two Pool Openers on duty within the Pool compound whenever the pool is open for public swimming; one of whom will be certified as trained in resuscitation, AED and emergency first aid.
Pool Openers have full discretion for the operation of the Swimming Pool during their period of duty;
They must be vigilant and patrol and regulate use of the pool at all times to ensure general safety and to maintain order. Instructions from Pool Openers must be respected by Pool users at all times.
Parents and Carers are responsible monitoring the safety and behaviour of their children and charges whilst using the pool. They will be expected to exert appropriate control over their children or charges for the benefit of other Pool users.
Pool Openers, denoted by wearing a sash, will open and close the Pool at the advertised times and will control and record the number of Pool users;
Decide whether to open or close the Pool for reasons of safety or maintenance ;
Decide on the number of swimmers using the Pool at any one time having regard to the permitted maximum number of users and common-sense safety considerations;
In periods of high usage, limit the time that individual swimmers may use the Pool in order to ensure fairness in the availability of the facility;
Exclude any person from using the Pool in the event of any lack of care for safety or for behaviour that is unacceptable to the Pool Opener.

Session: Afternoon or Evening
Openers: Name of Opener and seconder
Each session should have 2 openers but only 1 is required to be CPR and AED trained.
FLOAT: There is now float of £30 in change, that is available for openers, to make it easier to take money from pool users. The float is in a locked box inside the ladies changing room on the rear of the right hand screen . When closing the Pool, the “float” should be made up to £30. Please be discrete about using the float. Please retrieve the float before the pool is opened and return the float after the swimmers have departed the pool area.
·COVERS: Pool covers are to be rolled back completely so that they are clear of the water. (Covers are only to be rolled back by the authorised Pool Openers - care must be taken to ensure that the covers are not caught up on any steps - this will cause damage to the covers).
·WATER: Ensure water is clear enough to be able to observe all swimmers. Guide – it must be possible to see the stainless steel grid in the bottom of the pool at the deep end. If this cannot be seen clearly, the pool must not be opened.
·OPENERS BOX: The Pool ‘Openers Box’ (stored within the ladies changing room) must contain the Incident Reporting forms; relevant keys; the First Aid Box; the money box and Receipt Book.
·EMERGENCY: Prior to opening the pool, physically sight the keys for unlocking emergency exits and the key for unlocking the Recreation Ground gates to permit, as necessary, the entry of an emergency vehicle.
·FIRST AID: Contents of the First Aid Box to be checked and the First Aid Box positioned close to hand during the pool open period.
·TOILETS: Swimming pool toilets should be checked for cleanliness and fitness for use.

If you want to volunteer after receiving this email please reply to all , then all other openers will know which sessions are now being opened. This avoids multiple people offering to open the same session. If you do not have a seconder please reply to all stating you need a seconder and for which session
