Tint

Sets the fill value for displaying images. Images can be tinted to specified colors or made transparent by including an alpha value.

To apply transparency to an image without affecting its color, use white as the tint color and specify an alpha value. For instance, tint(255, 128) will make an image 50% transparent (assuming the default alpha range of 0-255, which can be changed with colorMode()).

When using hexadecimal notation to specify a color, use "#" or "0x" before the values (e.g., #CCFFAA or 0xFFCCFFAA). The # syntax uses six digits to specify a color (just as colors are typically specified in HTML and CSS). When using the hexadecimal notation starting with "0x", the hexadecimal value must be specified with eight characters; the first two characters define the alpha component, and the remainder define the red, green, and blue components.

The value for the gray parameter must be less than or equal to the current maximum value as specified by colorMode(). The default maximum value is 255.

The tint() function is also used to control the coloring of textures in 3D.

I have a issue with tint effect not working. I made a black tint on a video that should show as a black and white but its a solid black and won't adjust for tint amount. If I move the adjustment amount to 0 it stays black. I have a few screen shoots. I tried a few other effect filters and they work fine. Is there a setting I missing?

I'm following the training video on LinkedIn Learning called "After Effects 2021 Essential Training: The Basics". In the training video, the instructor uses tint in the same way only the footage in the comp turns b&w, and he is about to adjust the amount of tint to fade the footage back to color. I can't do that at all with tint. I can change the black maping to a different colors, yes, but the tint amount will stay the same whatever its 100, 50 or 0. Now I can use other effects to follow along but tint effect looks to be broken.

In color theory, a tint is a mixture of a color with white, which increases lightness, while a shade is a mixture with black, which increases darkness. Both processes affect the resulting color mixture's relative saturation. A tone is produced either by mixing a color with gray, or by both tinting and shading.[1] Mixing a color with any neutral color (including black, gray, and white) reduces the chroma, or colorfulness, while the hue (the relative mixture of red, green, blue, etc., depending on the colorspace) remains unchanged.

In common language, the term shade can be generalized to encompass any varieties of a particular color, whether technically they are shades, tints, tones, or slightly different hues.[2] Meanwhile, the term tint can be generalized to refer to any lighter or darker variation of a color (e.g. "tinted windows").[3]

There isn't a keyboard shortcut to add a tint or shade to a shape I'm afraid. I would recommend making a post about this on our Feature Requests page however as it would make a great edition to the app :)

As Callum said there isn't something similar/direct in Designer, however you can generate Tints and Shades from a colour in the Swatches palette. To do it right click on a colour well select Create Colour Chord then Tints, Shades (or Tones) from the menu (see screenshot). Then select the object and click on them to change to the desired tint/shade.

Is it possible to set the level of a tint?

I was watching a tutorial for Illustrator (I hope that isn't a swear word ?) and the guy had a base colour and he created a new colour that was a given %age of it.

If I add tints in the way that @MEB suggest, I get a number of new colours (thanks for that BTW, it was something I didn't know) but I have no control - it seems - over how these tints are defined.

If this setting is disabled, you should not see any green tint such as what is shown in your image example. As you are experiencing this on multiple cameras, please check that power and wifi resources are sufficient, as well as nothing environmental is causing the color concerns. Let us know how this goes.

Many of my favorite fishes come from flooded forests (no surprise there..), or other seasonally-inundated habitats, and have specialized feeding, spawning, and foraging habits as an adaptation to these environments. Most are dimly lit, devoid of aquatic plants, with deeply-tinted water and lots of overhanging terrestrial vegetation.

1) I absolutely can't stand aquariums which don't have some sort of background- be it opaque window tint, photo paper, or paint. This tank had no background. You could see the window behind it, and the trees outside on the street, and...yeah.

What I AM encouraging is responsible experimentation. Share your data. Force progress. Where would we be if hobbyists continued to believe that the undergravel filter was THE ONLY way to maintain a healthy aquarium, or if we never tried fragging a stony coral? Like, people on social media will ooh and awe when pics of beautiful wild aquatic habitats- many of which absolutely looked nothing like what we do in aquariums- are shared. They'll comment on how amazing Nature is, and admire the leaf litter and tinted water and stuff.

And it all starts with the 'fuel" for this process- leaves and botanicals. As they break down, they help enrich the aquatic habitat in which they reside. Now, in my opinion, it's important to add new leaves as the old ones decompose, especially if you like a certain "tint" to your water and want to keep it consistent.

UPDATE: I tapped the camera top a bit harder and then it had less of the pink tint. So I used a magnet on the top and it removed the rest of the pink. But there has to be a way to keep it from sticking in the first place.

I thought I would try for some help here. My photo printer is printing all photos with a greenish tint. Anyone have this problem? Would hate to through out yellow and blue toner and put in new but will if that's the remedy. Thanks!

Without knowing if you calibrate your display though, is that photo actually perfect? For example, if you use the wrong color balance under fluorescent lighting, it could lead to a green tint. And perhaps you manually adjusted your monitor to compensate?
