About me

I am currently a Senior Data Scientist at University of Oxford, based in the Big Data Institute, Old Road Campus, Oxford. I joined the Barnes group in 2018 after getting my Ph.D. degree at Tsinghua University. I am now working on the NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative Viral Hepatitis and Liver Disease Theme, with the main focus on answering HBV-related questions using electronic patient records through applications of machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), natural lanuage processing (NLP), and big data science techniques. I am the lead researcher investigating NLP techniques and large language models (LLMs) to identify liver disease information, including hepatocellular carcinoma and cirrhosis, from imaging reports to facilitate data extraction from electronic patient records. I also work with the DXA-HIP team at University of Galway evaluating tools for the assessment of low bone mineral density (BMD), BMD changes, and osteoporosis diagnosis in the Irish population. I am an Associate Editor for Digital Transformation and Society.
