Contraint Remix

As a collective group, my colleagues and I in class all took many photographs of our hands and things around us that we see as important while we were in isolation due to the situation around the world. This gave each of us many choices of photos to use. Then, I picked out specific ones to create the five images.

Cherished

Artist Statement

This was created to show that there is still color in the world and that there are things/objects we hold dear to during the pandemic.
I used the Quick Selection Tool to select the color that popped out the most in specific photos of the hand holding or touching something. I copied and pasted that selection to the original that had the black and white adjustment. I attempted to place the smaller image in a rainbow starting from the top left while the center is of paint, which is considered colorful.

Hands

Artist Statement

This was created by using most of the 'dirty hand' photos and the Quick Selection Tool to select only the hand from the original. We all seem to have intentionally made our hands dirty from paint, dirt, food, etc. and that made it very colorful.
I placed them around like we are all in a big circle showing off the 'artwork' we create on our hands. The current situation has caused us to wash our hands so often, so it was nice to have it purposely dirtied.

Gaming

Artist Statement

This was created to show that video games are great entertainments. I used the photos of game consoles, controllers, game cases, and other photos related to video games from the collective photos.
The background is a photo of a collection of games. Then, I had an idea of placing the controllers at the bottom while using parts of the Nintendo Switch from different photos to show that it is at the top. The Switch kind of represents the TV and the controllers are the different players.

Keyboard

Artist Statement

This was created to show how much time we all had spent on our laptops/desktops since this whole situation started. The collective photos had many photos of a laptop or a desktop computer.
Therefore, I chose all the photos where it showed the keyboard or screen and scaled them big enough to see. Then, I auto-blended them and it created something that looks very futuristic.

Pets

Artist Statement

The pets photo is of everyone’s pets since some of the collective photos contained a pet. This shows that even though we are all struggling with this pandemic, our best friends are always by our side.
Most of them were dogs. I just selected, copied and pasted a long horizontal strip from the original photos. Also, I placed them in a pattern (dog, cat, dog, parrot, etc.).
