Hello! My name is Tina Phan. I have a BA Digital Culture from Arizona State University.
It took me around two and a half years to finally realized what I wanted to do in life. In the beginnng, I was pursuing a career in Pharmacy, but I started to question my choice around my second year of college. That was around the time my best friend introduced me to coding. While doing my research, I learned you could create websites, apps, and video games. Therefore, before the start of 2017, I changed my major to Computer Science.
However, after less than a year, I started to enjoy the classes less and less. I was not happy and was having a hard time on what I wanted to do in life. This was when I was frantically searching for a different major in the university website. After searching through so many programs, I found out about Digital Culture and contacted the advisor immediately to learn more about it. The advisor was able to give me a brief description on what the program was about and asked me if I wanted to change my major to Digital Culture. At that point, I was already interested in the major so I did not hesitate to change it.
It was definitely a rough journey, but I was able to take classes that brought out my artistic side and I even got to learn more different coding programs and languages! I found myself enjoying everything that I was learning and with the new knowledge, I created many different projects. My friends that I have made in this program were a big encouragement to me to make it this far.
I cannot wait for opportunities to bring out my creativity.
