I belive...
Before you can lead others effectively, you must be clear about what you believe and continuously communicate what you are about.
Our driving questions should be: What is best for students? Why are we here?
I believe that our purpose extends beyond academic achievement as measured by standardized test scores. We are here to provide meaningful (real, relevant) learning experiences for students to ensure that they master essentials skills needed to become lifelong learners.
Great schools are not made great by what adults do. Great schools are created when students solve real problems, create real products, for a real audience.
Education is in a constant flux of change. Too often we get swept up in the next educational fad that promises to solve all of our problems. The truth is that no such program exists. Our CORE values (collaboration, ongoing learning, relationships first, and high expectations for ourselves and all students) must guide our actions.
We must strive for excellence through continuous improvement.
The most powerful staff development occurs not in training sessions, but when "connected" teachers come together to gain knowledge from one another every day.
A positive school culture is critical. Focus on the positive, productive aspects of the educational process and regularly celebrate success.
