PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: October 22, 2026
Time Machine (the "App") is provided by Czechner Ince ("we," "us," or "our"). The App turns a photo you take or choose into an AI-generated picture, and optionally a short video, of the same scene in a past era. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, why, and who processes it.
SUMMARY
- A photo leaves your device only when you start a trip, and only to create that trip's result.
- Your trips (original photo, generated picture and video) are stored on your device. We do not keep a copy of your original photo.
- You do not register. The App uses an anonymous account to hold your tickets; we do not collect your name, email address or phone number.
- We do not show ads, use advertising SDKs, track you across apps, or sell personal information.
- Payments are handled entirely by Google Play.
INFORMATION THE APP HANDLES
Photos you take or choose
The App uses the camera to take a photo, or the Android photo picker to let you choose one. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose a destination and start a trip. Then the photo is resized, sent over an encrypted connection to our server (Google Cloud Functions for Firebase), and passed on to fal.ai (https://fal.ai), the AI provider that generates the result. When you film a trip, the original photo and the generated picture are sent the same way to create the video.
Photos may show people. They are used only to generate the result you asked for. We do not use them for face recognition or to identify anyone, and we do not use them to train AI models.
Our server does not store your original photo. fal.ai processes it on our behalf and hosts the generated picture or video at a private, hard-to-guess link so the App can download it. fal.ai may keep uploaded and generated media for a limited time under its own privacy policy (https://fal.ai/privacy).
Trips stored on your device
Each finished trip (your original photo, the generated picture, the video if you made one, and the destination and date) is saved in the App's private storage on your device. Trips are not included in Android device backups. If you save or share a trip, the copy goes to your gallery or to the app you share with, and is no longer controlled by Time Machine.
Anonymous account and tickets
On first launch the App signs in with Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This creates a random identifier that is not linked to your Google account, phone number or advertising ID. Our database (Google Cloud Firestore) keeps, under that identifier:
- your ticket balance and a history of ticket changes (welcome tickets, purchases, trips, films and refunds);
- a record of each trip or film job: the destination, its status, timestamps and the link to the generated result;
- push notification tokens for the devices that use the account.
To give the free welcome tickets only once per device, we also store a one-way hash of the Android device ID for this app. The original ID cannot be recovered from the hash, and it is used only for this purpose.
Purchases
Ticket packs are sold through Google Play. We never receive your payment card or bank details. To credit a purchase, our server checks it with Google Play and stores the order ID, the product, the number of tickets and whether the purchase was later refunded. The purchase carries a hashed form of your anonymous account ID so it can be matched to your tickets. Google processes purchase information under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App tells you when a trip or film is ready. This uses Firebase Cloud Messaging and the push tokens described above. Notifications contain only the destination and whether the trip arrived or failed.
Reports
You can report any generated picture or video from inside the App. A report stores the reason you chose, any details you type, the destination, and the link to the reported result, so we can review it and improve our safeguards.
Technical data
Like any network service, Google and fal.ai receive your IP address and basic request information to deliver the service. Our server logs record technical events such as job IDs, errors and your anonymous account ID, and are kept for a limited period.
PERMISSIONS
- Camera: to take the photo for a trip. Photos are taken only when you press the shutter.
- Notifications: to tell you when a trip or film is ready (optional).
- Internet: to generate results, keep your tickets and process purchases.
The App does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone or files. Photos you choose from your gallery are shared with the App one at a time through the Android photo picker.
WHO PROCESSES YOUR DATA
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud): anonymous sign-in, database, server functions and notifications, acting as our processor.
- fal.ai: generates the pictures and videos, acting as our processor.
- Google Play: payments, under Google's own terms.
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers or analytics networks.
RETENTION AND DELETION
- Trips on your device stay until you remove them from the board, clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.
- Job records, ticket history and reports are kept as long as needed to run the service, handle refunds and meet accounting obligations.
- Purchase records are kept as required for tax and accounting purposes.
Uninstalling the App deletes its local data and the anonymous sign-in, so the server records can no longer be linked to you. To ask us to delete your account records, contact us at the address below. Before uninstalling, please mention a trip date and destination so we can find your records; otherwise we may not be able to tell which records are yours.
SECURITY
All traffic between the App, our server and fal.ai is encrypted. Database rules let each anonymous account read only its own records, and only our server can change ticket balances. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what is stored in the first place.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will delete the related records.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this policy when the App's features or legal obligations change. The revised version will show a new effective date, and material changes will be communicated in the App or its store listing.
