I am originally from Palmyra, Lebanon County. I graduated from Millersville University with a B.S. in Geology. Over the past 10 years, I have been working in the environmental remediation industry. My wife and I have been Elizabethtown residents for 4 years where we are raising our daughter and son. I am an advocate for local, social and environmental issues and enjoy participating in political activities.
Like many towns in Lancaster County, Elizabethtown has done well preserving the small town feel. Elizabethtown has a great downtown, excellent recreational areas, and a good sense of community. As a resident of the 1st ward, I enjoy the convenience of grabbing a coffee or ice cream and being able to walk to a park with my children. We have a community that cares. You can see it in the many faith-based organizations, charities, and youth and elder programs that are active in and around the Borough.
Elizabethtown is my home. I want to see it be the great community that it is, and ensure it stays that way for my children. I will need to be here for Elizabethtown now, if I want it to be here for me in the future.
The current Borough Council does a great job. I believe that our government should be democratically diverse, which means that everyone has equal access and opportunity to represent the people that elect them. Elizabethtown Borough is home to many young families just like mine, and that is a demographic that I can represent on the Council.
Most of what a job takes is attitude and commitment. If you come to learn and work hard, you will do well at most anything. That is how I approach a task. I have done well in my professional life moving into management relatively quickly. My experience in the public sector has helped me understand two things that are applicable to this position. There are business needs; the functional bits and pieces of an industry that are required to keep a business in good shape. There are human needs; the aspects of which make it all worthwhile. In management, you must learn how to balance both, and I’m certain that this position requires this knowledge.
I have a natural tendency for community leadership. When I was in Boy Scouts, I wanted to be Senior Patrol Leader. When my church youth group lobbied in Washington, I was there. My interest in public service started at a young age.
