This Privacy Policy explains what information the Tim Scanner mobile application (the “App”) collects, how it is used and the choices you have. The App is provided by Mete Oguzhan (“we”, “us”). Contact: timscannersite@gmail.com
1. Summary
Your documents stay on your device. We do not upload your scans, PDFs, photos or recognized text to our servers.
The App uses Google Firebase (analytics, crash reports, performance, notifications and one record per device), Unity Ads (advertising), Apple and Google (subscriptions), and Google Translate (only when you translate text).
You can turn off analytics and crash reports, choose non-personalized ads, and refuse tracking on iOS.
2. Information that stays on your device
Documents, images, PDFs, signatures and text you scan, create or import, including files you share into the App from other apps.
Text recognition (OCR), background removal and PDF tools run on your device.
The camera and photo library are used only to scan or import what you choose.
App lock uses your device’s PIN, Face ID or fingerprint features. Biometric data is handled by your device’s operating system and is never available to us.
Document reminders are stored on your device and shown as local notifications.
3. Information sent from your device
a) Device record (Google Firebase Cloud Firestore)
When you open the App, it creates or updates one record for your device with: a device identifier (Android ID on Android; a random identifier stored in the iOS Keychain on iOS), operating system version, device manufacturer and model, app version (first and latest), language setting, first and last use dates, and how many free uses of Premium tools you have used. We use it to keep your free-use count after a reinstall, to run Premium features and to prevent abuse. This record is linked to your device identifier.
b) Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The App records usage events such as screens viewed, tools opened and completed, settings changed, Premium screen views, subscription purchase events (plan, price, currency and store order ID) and ad impressions, together with app version, device model, operating system, language, an app instance ID and approximate location derived from your IP address (country or region). Analytics does not receive your document contents, file names or recognized text. We use this information to understand how the App is used, to improve it and to measure ads and subscriptions.
c) Crash reports and performance (Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring)
If the App crashes or hits an error, a report is sent with technical details (error trace, device and operating system, app state and the last screens or events). Performance data such as app start time is also collected. Document text and file paths are removed from these reports.
You can turn off analytics, crash reports and performance data at any time in the App menu under “Diagnostics & usage”.
d) Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
If you allow notifications, a push token is created for your device so that we can send you notifications. You can turn notifications off in the App or in your device settings.
e) Advertising (Unity Ads)
The free version of the App shows ads from Unity Ads (Unity Technologies). Unity may collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; Google Advertising ID on Android), device and app information, IP address and approximate location, and ad interactions such as impressions and clicks. Unity uses this to show and measure ads, to personalize them where you allow it, and to prevent fraud. Unity’s privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy
iOS: the App asks for your permission to track (App Tracking Transparency) before ads start. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, your advertising identifier is not shared and ads are not personalized based on tracking.
EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland: the App asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown.
Other regions: personalized ads are on by default; you can turn them off under “Ad preferences” in the App.
Ads are still shown when personalized ads are off, but they do not use your device identifier.
Analytics follows the same choice for ad-related signals (Google consent mode).
Tim Scanner Premium subscribers do not see ads.
f) Translation (Google Translate)
When you use a translation feature, the text you translate is sent to Google Translate to produce the translation. The App asks you before the first online translation. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
g) Speech to PDF
Speech recognition is provided by your device’s operating system (Apple or Google), which may process your voice under its own privacy policy. The App uses the microphone only while you are dictating.
h) Subscriptions (Apple App Store, Google Play)
Purchases of Tim Scanner Premium are handled by Apple or Google. We never receive your payment card details. The App receives your subscription status and transaction identifiers to unlock Premium, and purchase events are recorded in analytics as described above.
4. Tracking
Some of the data described above (device and advertising identifiers, approximate location, in-app interactions and purchase events) may be combined with data from other companies’ apps and websites for targeted advertising or ad measurement. On iOS this happens only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on iOS, or reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
5. Why we use your information (EEA, UK and similar laws)
To provide the App and Premium (performance of a contract): device record, subscription status.
Legitimate interests (you can object using “Diagnostics & usage”): analytics, crash reports and performance data to keep the App working and improve it.
Consent: personalized ads and tracking, online translation and notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time in the App or your device settings.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with the service providers described above (Google, Unity, Apple) so that they can provide their services. Under some laws (for example in California), showing personalized ads may count as “sharing”; you can opt out by turning off personalized ads under “Ad preferences”. We may also disclose information if required by law.
7. Retention
Device record: kept while you use the App and deleted when you ask us.
Analytics: kept according to Google Analytics retention settings (at most 14 months for user-level data).
Crash reports: kept for 90 days.
Data on your device: kept until you delete it or uninstall the App.
8. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. They use safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
9. Your rights and choices
In the App: “Diagnostics & usage” (analytics, crash reports, performance), “Ad preferences” (personalized ads) and notification settings.
On your device: tracking permission (iOS), advertising ID settings (Android), notification permission.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, email timscannersite@gmail.com.
10. Security
We use the security measures of our service providers and limit the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
