I believe the Sheriff's Office should reflect the values of the community it serves: hard work, honesty, and respect.
Throughout my career, I've believed in treating people fairly, being accountable for my actions, and doing the job the right way. I've also believed that a Sheriff should be visible in the community, accessible to the people he serves, and willing to listen.
The people of Craven County deserve a Sheriff's Office they can trust, one that earns respect through its actions and remains focused on serving the community every day.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to serve in many different roles throughout law enforcement, from patrol and investigations to leadership positions. Those experiences have allowed me to see firsthand what works well, where improvements can be made, and the importance of strong leadership.
They've also shaped how I approach this profession. I believe in supporting the deputies who serve our county, holding myself and others accountable, and never forgetting who we're here to serve.
Craven County is growing, and with that growth come new challenges and new opportunities.
I believe good law enforcement starts with trust. Strong relationships between deputies and the community are essential, and I believe those relationships should be built through communication, respect, and a visible presence throughout the county.
I also believe our deputies deserve the training, leadership, and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. When deputies are prepared and supported, they are better equipped to serve our communities.
Accountability is equally important. The public's trust must be earned, and I believe in being open and honest, taking responsibility for my actions, and holding the Sheriff's Office to a high standard.
Whether responding to everyday calls for service or major emergencies, I believe preparation matters. The Sheriff's Office should be ready to respond when needed and work closely with our local law enforcement, fire, rescue, emergency management, and community partners.
Craven County has been my home my whole life, and I've spent more than 30 years serving the people who live here.
I've seen this county grow and change over the years, but the things that matter most haven't changed. People want to feel safe in their homes, know their families are protected, and have confidence in the Sheriff's Office when they need help.
I believe my experience, my understanding of this community, and the relationships I've built throughout my career have prepared me to lead the Sheriff's Office and continue serving the people of Craven County.
The future of Craven County isn't something that belongs to one person. It belongs to all of us, and the decisions we make today will help shape the kind of community we leave for future generations.
