This Privacy Policy describes how the **TikTok Video Downloader** browser extension ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a localized experience in over 65 languages.
## 2. Information We Collect
We do **not** collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII) about you. We do not use cookies or tracking pixels.
### 2.1 Data Processed Locally
- **Video URLs** that you explicitly choose to download.
- **User preferences** (theme, file naming, folder path settings, language).
- **Download history** (stored locally on your device).
- **Anonymous client ID** (a randomly generated UUID stored locally, used solely for subscription verification — not linked to your identity).
### 2.2 Storage
- **chrome.storage.sync**: Preferences and anonymous client ID (synced across your Chrome profile if signed in).
- **chrome.storage.local**: Download history, subscription status cache, cloud connection status, and usage counters. Stored only on your device.
## 3. How We Use Information
### 3.1 Video Downloads
- Downloads are processed **directly** in your browser. Video data is fetched from TikTok’s CDN. No video URLs or content are sent to our servers.
### 3.2 Subscription Verification
- To verify Premium status, the extension sends your **anonymous client ID** (random UUID) to our backend (Supabase). This ID is not linked to your identity, email, or browsing history. The backend responds only with subscription status.
### 3.3 Cloud Sync (Premium, Opt-In)
- If you connect **Google Drive** or **Dropbox**, the extension uses OAuth2. We use the minimal **drive.file** scope for Google — the extension can only access files it creates.
- **Dropbox**: Uploads go to a dedicated folder. OAuth tokens are stored locally; we do not store or access them on our servers.
- Cloud sync is optional and only runs when you connect a service and enable auto-sync.
## 4. Permissions

- **Google Drive / Dropbox** — Only if you opt in to cloud sync; they have their own privacy policies.
## 6. Data Retention
- You can clear all local data via Chrome’s extension settings or by uninstalling.
- We do not retain data on our servers beyond the subscription record tied to your anonymous client ID.
## 7. Global Language Support
The extension is fully localized in 65+ languages. Localization occurs locally on your device using the `_locales` framework.
