How to Set Up a TikTok Parental Control? 

TikTok has more than enough options to ensure your kids’ safety while they are having fun on this platform. 

All you need to do is take a look at the below methods to set up the Parental Control on TikTok. 

1. Allow Family Pairing

To enable Family Pairing, you first have to link your account with your kids’ account, only then you can customize the settings on your teens’ TikTok account. You can do it in this way:

• Log in to your TikTok account on your mobile device. 

• Click on your profile image or icon at the bottom right corner. 

• Now, tap on the horizontal three-lined icon present at the top right corner. 

• From the drop-down options select Settings and Privacy. 

• Navigate to the section and tap on Family Pairing >> Continue. 

• Choose the option Parent when asked, "Who is Using this TikTok account?", and tap Next.

• Now, click on Send Invite to invite your teens for pairing. 

• The instant your teen accepts the request, you can begin customizing settings.

2. Change Content Preferences

This feature allows you to restrict the content or videos that are not appropriate for your kids to watch. 

• All you need to do is - Go to Settings >> Content Preference, and you have all access to make changes accordingly. 

3. Manage Screen Timing 

You can turn on this feature to set the limits and schedule the break reminders. Follow the steps:

• Go to the menu Settings and Privacy. 

• Navigate the section and select Screen Time. 

• Now, click on the option Daily Screen Time. 

• Come to the next page and tap on Set Daily Screen time. 

• Now, you can make a choice on either of the options i.e. set the same limit for every day or customize the limit for each day, and then tap on Next to confirm. 

• Lastly, customize the time for your kids’ daily screen timing. 

Now whenever your kid exceeds the limited time, you’ll be notified with the notification. 

4. Switch to Private Account

When you make their account private, that means you only have to allow your kids’ followers to navigate their TikTok account. 

However, even though it is a private account, the non-followers can view your kids’ profile photo, username, and bio. 

• Go to your profile and tap on the horizontal three-lined icon. 

• Tap on the menu Setting and Privacy >> Privacy.

•  Now, turn on the toggle next to Private Account. 

If you wish, you can also switch the toggle next to Activity status to hide activity status on the platform. 

5. Turn Off Account Suggestion 

• On scrolling down from the same section of Private Account, you’ll see the written Suggest Your Account to Others. 

• You can turn off this option if you don’t want the account ID to pop up in the suggested list of other users. 

• However, the options do not end here. Ahead you are getting three more options whether you want your kids’ accounts to be suggested to the contacts, Facebook Friends, and People who open and send links to them. 

• If you don't want your kids’ account to appear on any of the above, then simply turn off the toggles of all the options. 

6. Choose Who Can DM You

Parental Control Settings also includes the option to let you choose who can send a TikTok message to your kids and who can’t. 

• From the menu Settings and Privacy, select Privacy. 

• Scroll down to Direct Messages and choose who can send direct messages to you.
