HEAD COACH DARIN DENTON

Darin Denton lives in the Golden/Applewood area with his family.  After eleven years of youth lacrosse coaching and administration (CYLA Administrator of the Year- 2015), this will be Darin’s 12th season of coaching high school boy’s lacrosse and his 6th year as the Varsity Head Coach.  Previously he coached at Wheat Ridge HS where both of his boys played and graduated.  He has very much enjoyed the opportunity to work with the great groups of players/families and the excellent coaching staff. Darin didn't start playing lacrosse until his senior year at Douglas County High School, but helped the team to an appearance in the State Championship Game against Arapahoe. He walked onto to the lacrosse team at Colorado School of Mines, back when they still had a DII varsity program. He played defensive midfield for the Ore Diggers. Darin continues to play the game every chance he gets. During the summer, you can find him on the field coaching with Team 91 Colorado; a very rewarding experience in preparing and helping the players move on to the college level.

CHRIS KNOTT - VARSITY ASSISTANT HEAD COACH 

Coach Knott returns from retirement.  After coaching high school lacrosse at Golden and Wheat Ridge for a combined 18 years, Chris retired at the conclusion of the 2017 season.  As a head coach he built the WR Farmer's program into a consistent Colorado contender to include a 4A State Championship in 2013 and runner's up in 2014.  He was designated as Jeffco Coach of the Year 4 times and Colorado Coach of Year in 2011.  Chris couldn't stay away from the game and since his retirement from the high school field he has continued to coach youth teams for Rocky Mountain Storm and club teams during the fall and summer.  He currently coaches for Colorado Team 91.  Chris was an All-State midfielder for the Farmers and helped them win back-to-back state championships in 1991 and 1992.  

CHRIS ATKINSON - VARSITY DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR 

This will be Chris's 9th year of coaching high school lacrosse and his 3rd year with the Lakewood Tigers.  Previously Chris has coached at Highlands Ranch and Cherry Creek High Schools.  In addition, Chris has spent the last ten years coaching club lacrosse at both the youth and high school levels.  He is currently coaching for Team 91.  Prior to his coaching stint in Colorado, Chris coached youth lacrosse for 6 years in Fairport, New York, his home town.  In college, Chris played LSM at Cortland State and helped the Red Dragons to the NCAA DIII National Championship in 2009.  In 2010 he helped the Cortland State Club Team to the NCLL DIII National Championship.  Chris currently lives in Lakewood and is a middle school teacher in DPS.  Leveraging his coaching and teaching experiences, Chris has a great connection with the players and the ability teach them on and off the field.

JOSH SECORA - VARSITY OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Josh Secora is a Colorado native that grew up in Evergreen. He went to Golden High School and played Football and Lacrosse. Josh played D3 lacrosse at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. After graduating, he returned to Colorado and coached lacrosse at Wheat Ridge High School for six years. Josh now lives in Arvada with his wife (Krissi) and their two daughters, Marley (6) and Logan (4).

ROB CARROLL - VARSITY GOALIE COACH 

This will be Rob Carroll’s 11th year of coaching high school goalies.  Coach Rob grew up in Elmira, NY and graduated from Nazareth College in Rochester in 2001.  Rob earned All American honors in 2001 as a Golden Flyers goalie.  Coach Rob’s coaching philosophy for goalies: Drive home the proper fundamentals and develop the individuals strengths to help them reach their full potential.

ANDREW FRERICH - VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH 

This will be Andrew’s 4th year of coaching and his 3rd year at Lakewood.  Andrew played lacrosse at Wheat Ridge High School as well as ice hockey at Ralston Valley High School. In college, Andrew played midfield for the Elmhurst University Bluejays. During his time at Elmhurst, Andrew was a two-time all-conference selection, a member of the team’s Leadership Council, the 2020-2021 Elmhurst Male Scholar-Athlete of the year, and was named a USILA Scholar All-American his senior year. Andrew is currently completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Regis University. He enjoys being able to stay involved with the sport he loves and has a great time with the players and coaching staff. Previous coaches have been role models for Andrew, and he strives to pay it forward by helping to guide the Lakewood players.

MIKE SWARTZ - JV HEAD COACH 



WILL SWARTZ - OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR 

This will be Will's 8th year coaching high school lacrosse, all at Lakewood.  After having to play his freshman year of lacrosse at Golden high school, he helped start the lacrosse program at Lakewood in 2012 as a sophomore. He was a 3 year varsity starter and earned all conference nods for the 2015 season.  He continued his lacrosse career for a season at MSU Denver and helped the team get to the RMAC championship game.
