Tiffany has served in leadership and committee positions throughout her career. While at the NIH, Tiffany planned and convened sessions for the 2019 NIH Career Symposium. Due to the disproportionate effect conference cancellations in mid-2020 had on trainees, Tiffany co-organized a virtual seminar series called "Prokaryotic Pathogens Seminar Series" to provide opportunities for early career scientists to present their research, get feedback, and network. Currently, Tiffany serves on the NIH Fellows Committee as the co-chair (and founder) of the Health & Recreation subcommittee, and has planned many virtual and in-person events for this initiative. In addition, Tiffany is planning an in-depth symposium for American Society of Microbiology (ASM) Microbe 2023 and will convene the session.
During graduate school, she served on the AMC Student Finance Committee, as co-President of Running Club, as Secretary of Biomedical Science Club, and as part of the Healthy Meeting Initiative.
Tiffany has also volunteer judged at the Joseph Henry Science Fair for middle-school science projects and at poster days and conferences for undergraduates, graduate students, and residents.
During graduate school, each year Tiffany organized several "Science Nights" at the Police Athletic League Mentoring Program. Each night, graduate and medical students volunteered to walk the mentees through a scientific experiment and discussion. This fostered conversations about science and a variety of STEM career paths between the volunteers and children. This experience inspired her to get more involved in science outreach.
Tiffany attended the ASM "Communicating Science for the Crowd" workshop to gain the skills for developing science programming for the public. Shortly after, she started meeting informally with a great group of community members who felt similarly about the importance of local science outreach. Eventually, they formalized their group by founding CapSci, a non-profit organization to promote science literacy, interactions between scientists and non-scientists, and diversity in STEM in the Capital Region of New York. She served on the Finance Committee and organized events to fulfill the group's mission.
As a postdoc, Tiffany has participated in Skype A Scientist and events with National Cancer Institute's Scientists in the Community such as a Science Night and Lunch N' Learn.
