Home Paintings

¨ I created this series because my grandparents recently sold their beautiful home. Living out of state, this was where I would stay when I returned to Illinois. Grandma's home was a place where family would get together and celebrate special occassions. I always found their home and gardens beautiful and wanted to perserve the memories.¨

¨ This home belonged to my great-grandparents on land given to the Beane family through the Homestead Act of 1862. Unfortunately, my great-grandma Beane passed away, and the house was recently sold. The farmland was sold to the park district & is now a public park for families to enjoy.¨

¨ Last summer my husband and I temporarily moved in with my mother-in-law until we could close on our home. Each morning, while sipping my morning coffee, I would sketch the flowers as they began to bloom. These flowers have signifigance because my Father-in-law spent many years perfecting his garden. Unfortunately he passed a few years back, and the garden provides a connection to him. I created drawings of the flowers he planted to remind my husband that even though he is no longer with us, he lives on through our memories.¨
