I graduated from Texas Woman's University and earned a Masters of Education in Special Education. I am certified PK-12 as a Special Education Teacher, and have worked with students with special needs since 2004. I have 19 years of experience in special education as a special education teacher, case manager, behavioral support, self contained classroom, including 5 years experience as an ESY Administrator. I also attended Rutgers University and am certified as a Social Emotional Character Development Instructor. Most importantly, I am a mother to a special needs child so I am very familiar with experiencing this process from both sides of the table.
I understand how emotional and nerve-wracking it can be to walk into a room of school professionals to ask for what your child needs. The special education system is very complex with all it's acronyms, the legalities involved, and even understanding what services are available to your child. This is where I can step in and be an advocate for you and your family. Advocacy means being a voice for your child. Advocacy is speaking up for them and asking for the services they need. My hope is that with my experience, both personal and professional, we can navigate the special education process together and work towards the success of your child.
