WRITING TASK 1
The line graph illustrates the number of people using public transport in a city between 2015 and 2023, measured in thousands.
Overall, the number of public transport users showed a general upward trend over the period, although there was a sharp decline in the middle of the period, followed by a gradual recovery.
In 2015, around 120,000 people used public transport. This figure rose steadily to 150,000 by 2017, before increasing sharply to reach a peak of 245,000 in 2019. However, this upward trend was reserved dramatically in 2020, when the number of users plunged to just 90,000, representing the lowest point on the graph.
Following this sharp fall, the figure remained relatively stable at around 95,000 in 2021. From 2021 onwards, the number of users began to recover, rising to 160,000 in 2022 and climbing further to 230,000 by 2023, a level close to the pre-2020 peak.
