The story of our family’s baozi begins in a small coal mining town in the north of China, where my family—Hui Muslims for generations—perfected the art of making steamed buns. The recipe for our beef baozi has been passed down through generations, each one adding their own touch, but always rooted in faith, love, and family.
My mother, who opened a small restaurant to pay for my schooling, was known for her beef-filled baozi, made with tender beef and seasoned just perfectly with flavors deeply connected to our Hui Muslim heritage. “Food is love,” my mother would say. “And every baozi is a gift.”
When I arrived in America, I brought with me the treasured recipe that had been in our family for generations. They held a piece of our story, a link to our heritage, and a flavor that could bring comfort to anyone willing to try.
The tender, flavorful beef and soft dough quickly captured the attention of those curious to try something unique. The joy of watching people savor the first bite has inspired me to open our baozi business, where we serve only one thing—our signature beef baozi.
We focus on perfecting every single bun, from the dough to the tender beef filling, making sure that each bite carries the same warmth and love with which it was made. Every bun is a reflection of our heritage, shaped by the hands of my ancestor’s, my mother, and now me.
