Welcome to my page! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto. My current research sits at the intersection of economic history and political economy, seeking to understand how media and communication technologies influence society and politics. I also have broader interests in health and labor economics, in both historical and modern contexts.
I am a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and an IZA Research Fellow. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and my B.A. from Colgate University. Before coming to Toronto, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen (CEBI) and Princeton University.
