A history of Clarke County was written in 1914 by Thomas D. Gold. Nicholas Moore (1841-1938) lived over 50 years following the early death of his wife Frances Fannie Bonham at age 41 in 1886. During their 19 years of marriage Fannie gave birth to 10 children. Most of these lived to a ripe old age and are remembered by many of the present day.
