Talking Hands of the Shenandoah Valley strives to provide families with support, education, and empowerment throughout their journey with their deaf or hard of hearing children. This journey begins when their child's hearing level is identified, and continues throughout their school experience. THSV will be there for them at every point along the way!
THSV is based in Winchester, VA. We work to support and educate families in the City of Winchester, as well as the surrounding area, including the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Page, and Shenandoah.
Hi! I'm Laura Lamb, founder of THSV. I graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida with a double major of Deaf Education and Elementary Education. I have worked as a teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (TODHH) since 2008. I received certification as an Early Intervention Professional in 2014 from the Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Services of the Commonwealth of Virginia. I received my Master’s degree from Gallaudet University in 2018, with a specialization in ASL/English Bilingual Early Childhood Education.
I live in Winchester with my husband, infant son, (deaf) dog, and cat. When taking breaks from work and school, I enjoy reading, sewing, and traveling. I look forward to working with you and your family throughout your journey!
