We had always talked about owning land one day - But we had established careers, and in preparation of our growing family in 2018, had purchased our 'forever home' in the city, so we had always put 'owning land' in the "well, maybe one day" chapter of our lives. 

After our daughter was born in 2018, it felt like something within ourselves was calling for a change. Living in a big city was great, but it just felt like something was missing. As we continued to explore these feelings, we tried traveling more - beaches, mountains, trips abroad. Each came with instant gratification, but it just didn't seem like the ultimate solution. Then came 2020 - A fresh new year with ultimate opportunities to explore what this sense of calling was that we felt - or so we thought. As the world seemed to shut down around us, we were beyond grateful for the opportunity to spend more time as a family, but like many, we also felt ourselves going crazy from isolation - so we did the most pragmatic and rational thing we could think of....we tightened up our budget and bought a camper! We took advantage of our new abilities to work from home and traveled....A lot! We spent so much time outdoors, and it just felt right. The Vitamin D from those sunny days. Our bare feet being grounded to earth from those makeshift mud-kitchens we made to entertain an explorative, growing toddler. Campfire cooking replaced frozen meals, drive-throughs & UberEats, and shooting star viewing replaced evening nights in front of a TV! As we returned home for the winters, we got more into cooking homemade meals, experimented with growing plants and doing what we considered things our grandparents loved to do. Over the course of a few years, things became more clear in helping us define what was missing. 

In 2023, we put our house on the market and opened a full fledge search into where we wanted to end up. Just a few months after the sale of our property in Des Moines is when we came across the listing for our current property. We made a trip down to view it and before we could get out of the driveway, we knew it was meant for us. We didn't want to leave - and the further we drove away, the more we missed it and wanted to come back and look around some more. 

We closed on the property in late Spring of 2024 and Three VP's Farm was established.
