# ThreadReveal Privacy Policy

ThreadReveal is a Chrome extension that presents the Gmail conversation open in the user's browser in a focused conversation view. This policy explains the data ThreadReveal handles and how it is used.

## Data ThreadReveal Handles

After the user selects **Continue** in the first-use disclosure, ThreadReveal may handle:

- Names and email addresses shown in the conversation.

- Email subject lines, message text, formatted content, and dates.

- Attachment names, file types, thumbnails, and Gmail-provided attachment URLs.

- Search terms entered into ThreadReveal.

- Reply, reply-all, and forward drafts created in ThreadReveal.

Chrome Web Store policy treats this information as user data even though ThreadReveal processes it locally.

## How Data Is Used

ThreadReveal uses this data only to provide its single purpose: helping the user read, navigate, search, view attachments from, and respond to the Gmail conversation currently open in the browser.

ThreadReveal does not use email data for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to this user-facing functionality.

## Local Processing and Transmission

Conversation data and search terms are processed locally in the user's browser. ThreadReveal does not operate a developer server, analytics service, advertising service, or remote AI service, and does not send email content to the publisher.

When the user clicks **Download**, the selected Gmail-provided attachment URL is passed within the extension to Chrome's downloads manager. When the user chooses a reply action, the draft is placed into Gmail's native composer and Gmail performs the send operation. Those actions are initiated by the user and are subject to Google's terms and privacy practices.

## Storage and Retention

ThreadReveal does not persist email content, attachment content, searches, or reply drafts after the page is closed or reloaded. It stores only:

- Whether the user accepted the first-use disclosure.

- The screen position of the movable ThreadReveal launcher.

These preferences are stored in the browser's local storage for Gmail and remain until the user clears site data or removes the extension.

## Sharing and Sale

ThreadReveal does not sell, rent, share, or transfer user data to the publisher, advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. No human at the publisher reads user email through ThreadReveal.

## Permissions

- Access to https://mail.google.com/* is used only to display ThreadReveal inside Gmail and read the conversation the user opens.

- The Chrome downloads permission is used only after the user clicks a ThreadReveal download control.

ThreadReveal does not request access to browsing history, tabs on other websites, location, camera, microphone, or Google account APIs.

## Security

ThreadReveal uses Manifest V3, includes all executable code in its extension package, rejects untrusted privileged download requests, restricts attachment downloads to approved Google HTTPS hosts, sanitizes rendered email HTML and reply drafts, and does not execute remote code.

No software can be guaranteed to be free of every vulnerability. ThreadReveal is designed to minimize data access and restrict privileged extension operations.

## User Choices

The user may choose **Not now** on the first-use disclosure. The user may stop ThreadReveal at any time by disabling or removing it from chrome://extensions, or by revoking its site access in Chrome.

## Children's Privacy

ThreadReveal is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. The publisher does not knowingly collect children's personal information.

## Changes

Material changes will be posted at the same public URL with an updated effective date. If a change requires new data use or permissions, ThreadReveal will request any consent required by Chrome Web Store policy.
