School Supply Kits Chair- The School Supply Kit Chair will coordinate with building staff to obtain school supply lists for the upcoming school year and create supply kits based on grade level with vendor. The chair will work to promote the sale of school supply kits and manage distribution of kits at the back-to-school walk-through in August. This is a service the Thomas PTO makes available every summer. Purchasing is a convenient way for our families to check back-to-school shopping off of the to-do list!
Back-to-School Walkthrough Chair - Each fall, the PTO hosts a social during the Walkthrough and offers directions, signage, snacks, school supply kits, spirit wear, and other items for families. The chair will plan this event by securing volunteers and coordinating with representatives who will be present at the Walkthrough (for example, Transportation, Latchkey, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, etc.). This chair position is essential as we kick off a new school year!, but the role is a one time commitment. The PTO takes great pride in welcoming families (both old and new) to Thomas, and we try to make it fun by organizing snacks/food trucks, decorations and signage and giving parents a chance to meet other families while the kids reunite and play on the playground.
Beautification Chair - This role works with the PTO to keep our school looking its best. The main focus being to keep the pots in the front of the school looking fresh. This is usually done 3-4 times a year based on the season. This chair is also encouraged to help decorate the interior Commons at events like the Back-to-School Walk-Through, deocrating before Trunk-or-Treat, etc.
Staff Appreciation Chair - Coordinate the back to school luncheon, conference night snacks, holiday luncheon and staff appreciation week. It is helpful to have two people to chair and the current chair is happy to provide lots of information and knowledge.
Dine & Donate Chair - Coordinate Dine & Donate fundraisers at local restaurants to support our school. Ideally we plan one a month, and the chair will work with the PTO Board and office staff to communicate and promote fundraiser details with families and staff.
