Thomas Hudson Beare in 1858, reported Thomas [sic] Mitchell, butcher, was a steerage passenger on the Duke of York.  [He was relying on his memory of an event that occurred 22 years previously.]

The Biographical Index of South Australians states he was a miller and a butcher [sic], and that he arrived on the Duke of York. [sic]

There is confusion between Thomas MITCHELL (miller) and Henry MITCHELL (butcher), as to who was on the Duke of York. 

Thomas Mitchell comes from Cuckfield, Sussex, whereas Henry Mitchell comes from Woodford, Essex.
