Thomas Hughes is a sophomore at Virginia Tech, majoring in sports media and analytics with a minor in creative writing.
Hughes currently serves as lead editor for Virginia Tech On SI, penning articles on football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball and baseball. To date, he has written over 1,000 articles for VT On SI and writes daily. He is also a staff writer for Steering Wheel Nation, having written pieces on several motorsport associations, including Formula 1 and the NTT IndyCar Series.
Outside of his studies and work, Thomas competes on obstacle course racing competitions inspired by the television show "American Ninja Warrior". He qualified for the National Finals in the Ultimate Ninja Athletic Association (UNAA) in 2022 and 2024 and the World Championships of the World Ninja League in 2024. Hughes is the co-president of the Ninja Warrior Club at Virginia Tech, as well as the president of the Formula 1 Club at Virginia Tech.
Outside his extracurriculars and school activities, Thomas enjoys playing sports videogames and hanging out with his family, plus his two dogs, Apollo and Phantom.
