Agape - Out Now
Christianity is more than just personal salvation. Once you receive Christ and the finished work of salvation, the Holy Spirit in your heart, you enter into a divine partnership with God. You become not just a son or daughter of the creator of the universe, but you become an ambassador of the gospel.
Time and again in scripture, the reader or hearer is encouraged to declare the works and the wonders of God. The Corinthian church was encouraged to share the gospel, declaring that the old things have passed away and the new has come, that when you are in Christ you are a new creation. As the word of God speaks to all people in all times, in all cultures and in all eras, what does this mean for the modern 21st century chrisitan. How do we make sense of the gospel today in our crumbling society as it seems> How do we reckon witht he global atrocities that we see and hear about on the news?
The Gospel is a gospel of love. It commands us to focus on our communities, our neighbours, the people we interact with day to day. Each person needs the love of God shown and given to them. The way we make a an impact in theis world is when we become prayer warriors that open doors, heal the sick, share the promises of God through action and word. If we live like we are called to in a world that is the oppostie to that, we make waves for the Kingdom of God. We become the love of God for our coworkers, our classmates, our communites. This is how we make a change, to love like Jesus of Nazareth did.
It is without a doubt in anyones mind that this world in its current state has become one that leaves its inhabitants with little hope. Looking around you see wars and in the places where there is peace, war brings its victims to its doorsteps. A glance across the political spectrum revels a schism that separates friends, family and in some cases marriages. With the rise of social media, my generation has been driven to other way. We have become anti-social and broken people. When you look at the religious world, there seems to be no riught way. Each church and major religion has its flaws and many people become hurt and leave with bitterness and pain. The stench of death looms in the air, and people keep on living as if its not there. This has been my experience.
It has lead me to one realization, that there is a hunger in the hearts of human beings for something to be done. The injusrice and atrocities cannot continue like it is. We need a touch of heaven uinlike any seen before, a touch that could mend the ripped fabric of our sociey, of our polotics, of our beliefs, of our huiman nature. We need a Revival of the Truth.
