Hey! My name is Zora Thomas (she/they). Thank you for being here and being in this space. My hobbies are cooking, writing, karaoke, stand-up comedy, and World of Warcraft. Horde forever! I am looking forward to working for SAAF or the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation as a housing case manager in the upcoming weeks. I completed my BA in Psychology in 2022, after separating from the United States Air Force after serving seven years. I’m currently on track to complete my Social Justice & Human Rights graduate program from Arizona State University in the summer of 2023.
My goal is to save the world as much as I can. Cliche isn’t it? I believe that we can heal the divides within us by teaching trauma healing. Then, we can heal the family that we’re in onto the community and eventually the world. Our healing turned outward to bridge divides and be truly intersectional. If we can find the humanity to love ourselves enough to love someone else, we can save the planet.
My military career has taught me how to see different perspectives and worldviews as we are thrown together from all parts of the country. I use this experience to listen, understand, pay attention, and assist. Isn’t that what community is about? If the COVID pandemic has taught me anything it is to deeply remember the aspects that bind us over those that tear us apart.
