This role taught me how to provide compassionate, person-centered care while supporting a child with special needs. I developed strong communication skills and emotional intelligence, and learned how to adapt to individual needs in a meaningful and respectful way. It also gave me a deeper understanding of patience, trust-building, and the importance of consistency in caregiving. Supporting someone in their daily life taught me how to be present, attentive, and calm under pressure. This experience helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’ve carried these skills into other roles that require empathy, active listening, and a caring mindset.
During my year in the military, I came across multiple stressful situations which was totally different from anything i've ever experienced. During these situations i learned how capable i am to adapting to different situations, and my ability to collect myself and reacting accordingly. These 12 months i got to learn a lot about myself and develop as a person. One of the most valueable lessons i learned is the power of teamwork. When people collaborate effectively, they can achieve far more than they could alone.
Working at a gas station gave me experience in a fast-paced retail environment. I developed strong customer service skills, learned to manage responsibilities independently, and became confident in handling transactions and problem-solving on the spot. As i live on a small island, this gas station was looked upon as a fast food joint, as we sold pizza, burgers, and hot dogs. This resulted in some pretty hectic situations that sometimes required unorthodox solutions. These situations helped develop my problem solving skills.
