PEN America tracks all book bans in libraries and classrooms across the U.S. in our Index of School Book Bans, updated for the 2022-2023 school year.

ALA compiles data on book challenges from reports filed by library professionals in the field and from news stories published throughout the United States.

Banned book week is September 22-28, 2024. 

Started in January of 2022, the Florida Freedom to Read Project connects parent organizations across the state of Florida and focuses our energy on defending every student’s right to access information and ideas while at school.
