This Privacy Policy describes how [Insert Company/Developer Name] ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information in connection with the "This Or That" mobile application and website (collectively, the "App" or "Service"), available on Android, iOS, and the web.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
"This Or That" is a casual decision-making and polling game where users choose between two options ("Option A" vs. "Option B") across various categories, including Fun, Office, Girls, Couples, Boys, and an Adults 18+ category containing mature-themed content.
The App is available on:
Google Play Store (Android)
Apple App Store (iOS)
Web browser at [Insert Website URL]
We are committed to data minimization. The App is designed to function without mandatory user registration or account creation, and the majority of gameplay data is collected and stored anonymously.
When you make a selection (Option A or Option B) within the App, your choice is recorded and stored in our backend database (Google Cloud Firestore) to calculate and display aggregated, anonymous voting/poll percentages (e.g., "62% chose Option A"). This data is not tied to your name, email address, or any directly identifying account information.
The categories and questions/prompts you see are dynamically retrieved from our Firestore database. Viewing this content does not itself constitute the collection of personal data beyond what is described in this Policy.
We use Google Firebase services, which may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:
Device type, model, and operating system version
App version
General, non-precise location (e.g., country/region, derived from IP address)
Usage patterns, session duration, and in-app interaction events
Crash logs, performance data, and diagnostic/log metrics
Advertising identifiers or installation identifiers (if applicable, e.g., for analytics)
This data is collected primarily in an aggregated or pseudonymous form via Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring.
The App currently does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide personal identifiers (such as your name, email, or phone number) to use core gameplay features. If this changes in the future (e.g., optional sign-in for saving preferences), we will update this Policy accordingly and provide notice within the App.
We do not knowingly collect: your real name, home address, precise geolocation, financial/payment information, contact lists, photos, or biometric data, unless a future feature explicitly requests such data with your consent.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
To operate core App functionality (recording your selections and displaying aggregate poll results)
To dynamically deliver categories and question content
To monitor, maintain, and improve App performance and stability (crash reporting, diagnostics)
To analyze aggregate usage trends to improve features and content categories
To ensure compliance with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Service
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use gameplay selection data to build individual behavioral profiles tied to your identity.
The App relies on the following third-party service provider:
We use Firebase Core, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and related Firebase products to store data, host content, and monitor performance. Firebase may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google or its affiliates/subcontractors maintain facilities.
Firebase Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We encourage you to review Google's privacy documentation to understand how Firebase processes data on our behalf as a data processor/service provider.
We do not currently integrate third-party advertising networks or social media SDKs beyond Firebase. If this changes (e.g., addition of ad networks, analytics providers, or social login), this Policy will be updated, and additional disclosures (including any required App Store "Privacy Nutrition Labels" or Google Play "Data Safety" updates) will be made.
All gameplay and diagnostic data is stored on Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform servers. Google maintains industry-standard technical and organizational security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and infrastructure security certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2/3).
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including:
Firestore security rules restricting direct read/write access
Anonymized/aggregated storage of voting data (no direct linkage to personal identifiers)
Limited internal access to backend systems
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Aggregated poll/voting data is retained indefinitely in anonymized, aggregate form, as it does not identify any individual user and is used solely to display ongoing poll statistics.
Diagnostic and crash log data collected via Firebase is retained according to Google Firebase's default retention periods (generally up to 14 months for Analytics data, subject to Google's policies), after which it is deleted or further anonymized.
If user accounts are introduced in the future, account-linked data will be retained only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law, and deleted upon valid account-deletion requests.
"This Or That" includes an "Adults 18+" content category containing mature-themed prompts intended solely for adult users. Accordingly:
The App is rated for mature/adult audiences on platforms where such content is included, in accordance with Apple App Store age ratings and Google Play content ratings (via IARC).
Users must meet the applicable minimum age requirement (18 years or older, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction) to access the "Adults 18+" category.
We do not knowingly direct the "Adults 18+" category to, or collect data from, children.
The App, as a whole, is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). Because core gameplay does not require account creation and does not collect directly identifying personal information, the risk of collecting children's personal data is minimized. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
We recommend that parents and guardians:
Use the device-level parental control features provided by Apple (Screen Time / Content & Privacy Restrictions) and Google (Google Family Link / Play Store content filters) to restrict access to mature-rated apps and in-app content categories.
Supervise minors' use of app stores and mobile devices generally.
Contact us at developer.isthiyaque@gmail.com if they believe a child has accessed inappropriate content or provided personal information through the App.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, where applicable "information society services" consent thresholds may set the age of consent between 13–16 depending on the member state, we likewise do not knowingly target the "Adults 18+" category to minors and rely on platform-level age-gating and content rating systems.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Request confirmation of whether we process data associated with you
Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request data portability
Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent
Because most gameplay data is collected anonymously and not linked to an identifiable user, we may not be able to identify, retrieve, or delete specific data associated with a particular individual unless you provide us with a device/session identifier or other information sufficient to locate your data.
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we process data under the following legal bases:
Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the App
Consent — where required (e.g., certain analytics or optional features)
Legal obligation — where necessary for compliance
Under the GDPR/UK GDPR, you have the rights described in Section 7.1, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (e.g., your national supervisory authority) if you believe our processing violates applicable law.
Data Transfers: Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK (e.g., to Google/Firebase servers in the United States), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Google's Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's certifications under applicable transfer frameworks.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
Request deletion of personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate personal information
Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA)
Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
Limit use of "sensitive personal information" (we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined under CPRA)
To exercise these rights, contact us at [Insert Support Email]. Because gameplay data is generally anonymized, we may request additional information to verify identity or may inform you that identifiable data associated with you cannot be located.
Residents of states with comparable privacy statutes (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others as they take effect) may have similar rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing. We will honor valid requests consistent with applicable state law.
To submit a privacy request, contact us at [Insert Support Email] with a description of your request. We will respond within the time frame required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days, subject to extensions permitted by law).
In accordance with Google Play Developer Policy, we disclose the categories of data collected/shared (as detailed in Section 2) via the App's Data Safety section on its Google Play Store listing. We affirm that data is encrypted in transit and provide a mechanism for data deletion requests where applicable.
In accordance with Apple App Store Review Guidelines, we disclose data collection practices via the App's App Privacy ("Nutrity Label") details on the App Store listing, including data types collected (e.g., Usage Data, Diagnostics) and whether such data is linked to your identity (generally, it is not).
If we implement any cross-app/cross-site tracking (e.g., for advertising attribution) in the future, we will request permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework as required, prior to accessing the device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
If you access "This Or That" via our website [Insert Website URL], we may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies provided through Firebase Hosting/Analytics to:
Remember your preferences
Analyze site traffic and usage patterns
Maintain session functionality
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain functionality of the web version.
The App may be accessed globally. By using the App, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where Google Firebase/Google Cloud Platform maintains servers, which may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, as described in Section 7.2.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant regulatory authorities as required by applicable law (including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable breach notification statutes).
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or App functionality. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy, and, where required by law, we will provide additional notice (e.g., in-app notification). Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
