Announcement: Thirukkural recital competition is scheduled to be held on 01.05.2025 in Trichy. School students who can recite all 1330 couplets of Thirukkural can participate in the competition. The winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-, and a certificate with an award Thirukkural Selvan/ Selvi. A maximum of 50 students will be awarded the prize this year.
In addition to this, a talent search exam that tests the understanding in Thirukkural is also scheduled to be conducted on the same day. Students must answer 50 multiple choice questions within 90 minutes. Each right answer will fetch two marks and each incorrect answer will reduce 0.5 marks. A maximum of twenty students scoring more than 70 will be awarded a cash prize each of Rs. 1000/-. A model question paper with 25 questions can be downloaded from this link.

அறிவிப்பு: 01.05.2025 அன்று திருச்சிராப்பள்ளியில் திருக்குறள் ஒப்பித்தல் போட்டி நடைபெறவுள்ளது. 1330 குறட்பாக்களையும் ஒப்பிக்கும் திறன்படைத்த பள்ளி மாணவர்கள் இப்போட்டியில் கலந்துகொள்ளலாம். போட்டியில் வெல்பவர்களுக்கு ரூ. 2000/- மற்றும் திருக்குறள் செல்வன்/ செல்வி விருதுடன் கூடிய சான்றிதழும் வழங்கப்படும். இவ்வாண்டு அதிகபட்சம் ஐம்பது மாணவர்களுக்கு இப்பரிசு வழங்கப்படும்.
இதுதவிர புரிந்துணர்வைச் சோதிக்கும் திருக்குறள் திறனறித் தேர்வும் அதே நாளில் நடைபெறவுள்ளது. இதில் பங்குபெறும் மாணவர்கள் 90 நிமிடங்களில் 50 வினாக்களுக்கு விடையளிக்கவேண்டும். வினா ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் நான்கு விடைகளில் ஒன்றைத் தெரிவு செய்ய்வேண்டும். ஒவ்வொரு சரியான விடைக்கும் இரண்டு மதிப்பெண் வழங்கப்படும். ஒவ்வொரு தவறான விடைக்கும் 0.5 மதிப்பெண் குறைக்கப்படும். 70 மதிப்பெண்களுக்கு மேல் பெறும் முதல் இருபது மாணக்கர்க்குத் தலா ரூ. 1000/- பரிசு வழங்கப்படும். 25 வினாக்கள் கொண்ட மாதிரி வினாத்தாள் இங்கே.

Started in the year 1997, Thirukkural Thirumoolanathan arakkattalai is a non - government aided establishment, that spreads the concepts of the Tamil literature Thirukkural. The Arakkattalai has been awarding Rs.2000/- to school students who could recite all 1330 couplets of Thirukkural and Rs.500/- for school sudents who could recite the first 500 couplets of Thirukkural, every year. They are also awarded a certificate with an award Thirukkural Selvan/ Selvi. From 2013 onwards, the Arakkattalai awards a total amount of Rs. 1,15,000/- annually. The competition is held on May 1st of every year. The rules and regulations to participate in the competition are as follows:
Anyone below 17 years of age can participate.
A person who is older than 17 years but studying in class XII or a lower class can also participate with a bona fide certificate from his school.
The participants are expected to recite all 1330 couplets of Thirukkural, continuously and clearly, in a maximum of 2 hours in front of the judges, devoid of errors.
The participants will be asked to recite seven chapters in the qualifying round. Only those who qualify will be allowed to continue the recital.
The participants who recited 500 couplets of Thirukkural last year, can recite the rest of the 830 couplets of Thirukkural this year. These participants will be asked to recite five chapters in the qualifying round.
The participants are expected to download the form given in this link, fill it, and either send the scanned copy by mail to thirumulanathan@gmail.com, the photo by WhatsApp to 9786587992, or the hand-filled form by post to the address 25, Thirukkural Street, Pullambadi - 621 711.
The Judges' decision will be final.
Till date, 1147 students have received the prize from the Arakkattalai.
In 2023, the competition is conducted only for students reciting all 1330 couplets.
