I. Tourism and Value
Doctor Jeroen Nawijn is a senior lecturer in Tourism at Breda University of applied sciences. He works for the Research group Tourism Impacts on Society. His work covers topics of well-being, cultural heritage, and sustainability.
Doctor Willem van der Deijl-Kloeg is an assistant professor of Ethics at Tilburg University. He works on the nature and measurement of wellbeing, and other value concepts, such as meaningfulness, and its relevance in ethics and justice.
II. Travel, Gender, and Curiosity
Doctor Lien Foubert is a senior lecturer in Ancient History at Radboud University Nijmegen and researches women in the Graeco-Roman world. After completing a dissertation on the public and private roles of Julian-Claudian women in 2010, she now focuses on the movements of women in a gendered ancient Mediterranean.
Doctor Pilar Lopez-Cantero is a an assistant professor in Philosophy at Tilburg University. Her work focuses on emotions and personal relationships, with an interest in the affective dimensions of urban and travelling experiences.
III. Tourist Imagination
Professor Stijn Reinders is full professor of Cultural Heritage, in Particular in Relation to Tourism and Popular Culture at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on the intersection of media, culture and tourism. Currently he leads two large, international research projects: Worlds of Imagination, funded by the European Research Council, and Locating Imagination funded by the Dutch Science Foundation.
Doctor Ruud Welten is an associate professor at Tilburg University and has published two books and several articles on the meaning of travel, among others Het ware leven is elders. Filosofie van het toerisme [True life is elsewhere. Philosophy of tourism] (2013).
