Sewing - A Passion

Hi, I’m Chantal, the founder of Thimble and Needle, a home-based business that creates and sells personalised and unique items for you and your loved ones. I was born and raised in Switzerland, where I learned how to sew from my mother when I was a little girl. Later, I became a midwife and worked for several years before moving abroad and starting a family.

As a mother of two, I know how challenging it can be to balance work and childcare, especially with irregular shifts. That’s why, in 2020, I decided to pursue my passion for sewing and turn it into a flexible and creative career. My parents gave me a wonderful gift when our first child was born: a Bernina B380 sewing machine. They said I would always have something to fix or mend with kids around. And they were right, but I have to say: the joy of making new products is much bigger!

At Thimble and Needle, you can find a variety of products that are handmade with love and care. Whether you need a T-shirt, a towel, a bunting, or a bag for your child, I can personalise it with their name, favourite colour, or design. You can also treat yourself to a stylish handbag, tote bag, purse, or something else from my seasonal collection. I’m always adding new items to my portfolio, so check back often to see what’s new.

I ship within the UK and on request I will consider shipping to the rest of Europe. If you live near Durham, you can also take advantage of my ‘sewing on’ service for badges (scouts, swimming, etc).
