Author's Note: For those wondering about the top pic, it's Grimm RWBY along with another version of Salem. This was drawn by Bach Do (aka Dishwasher1910), probably the most talented RWBY artist out there. Remember to check his works, I can assure you will be amazed
So, how has your day been going? Care to tell me about it?
<><><><><><><><><><><>
Ah, vacations
That time of the year when you can just say "fuck it" to basically everything and simply enjoyed life as it is, even though it'd fucked you over many times in the past, in many different ways
What's the best way to start a vacation to you?
Some would began their day with a blowjob from their girlfriend, others will just settle for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. A batch of caffeine is exactly what you would need for a fresh new day. That and your girlfriend's blowjob if nothing else
(But knowing the readers of this story, they probably aren't capable of getting a girlfriend yet....if ever)
After that they will next spend time with their loved ones in a random family activity, such as going for a walk on the beach, a trip to an amusement park, or simply stays at home and relax. After all there's nothing more than enjoying the familiar peace of your household
To be honest, I intend to do some of that as well, but then I remembered I'm supposed to be a gluttonous vampiric Beowolf with a tendency to kill things and learn their abilities, and that I'm currently being hunted across the four Kingdoms as an A-class criminal, which also means that I'll be killed on sight without hesitation
So how does a gluttonous vampiric Beowolf with a tendency to kill things and learn their abilities, which is also being hunted across the four Kingdoms as an A-class criminal starts his vacation?
Well, I don't know about you, but I've found killing bandits in the morning has proven to be a...Interesting outdoor Activity
"Tag! you're it" I said as I tapped the man on his shoulder. He turned to me with the most horrified expression on his face and hastily raised his gun on instinct, the clock of a trigger merely inches away from exploding
"AHHHH-"
BANG!
His body fell to the ground like a puppet whose strings had been cut, blood flowed out underneath. Another one bites the dirt, just like the rest of his friends
About ten or so bodies surrounded me, all of which were corpses of the bandits which i have oh-so-lucky to meet on my journey here. More people to kill, more abilities to absorb, more EXP to gain
Haha, thank you Monty for granting me with such a delicious breakfast!
"Surround him! He can't take us all!" Another bandit cried out as he readied his blade and charged at me
"You know what's funny?" A crimson spear appeared in my hand, one that was made using [Blood Manipulation] to solidify the blood around me, forming an adequate melee weapon "People also said the same about the Area 51 Raid, and those idiots got fucking massacred!"
With a swoop, I swung the spear around in a wide arc, completely destroying those around me in one hit. The bandit was cleaved in half from the waist up, his face was wide with shock as he couldn't registered just what had happened
Not stopping at that, i thrust my blood spear forward, impaling another one in his heart, before pulling it out and used it to block an incoming hail of bullets from the surviving bandits. At least they seems to be intelligent enough to try and take me out at far range....
One of the bullet struck me between the eye as I stumbled backward from the recoil, blood spurted out from my head
"HA, WE GOT HIM" One of them cheered, but his cry were cut short as the blood stopped mid-air and flowed back to (Y/n)'s head
"Huh..." Pulling the bullet out of his forehead, he dropped it to the ground "...That's one hit"
"W-what are you?" One of them exclaimed
ignoring them, he took one step forward, and blurred out of their sights
The next thing they know, three of them dropped dead, like marionette whose strings had been cut
He appeared in their midst, his two weapons, Blitz and Pulse in each of his hands. There was a moment of stunned silence, before...chaos exploded
When you have only two guns and having to face a bunch of enemy surrounding you, it usually end with having to deal with them John-Wick-style
Two shots to the chest, one to the head. Standard Black Ops training
BANG BANG BANG
BANG BANG BANG
BANG BANG BANG
Three of them have been dealt with, but it seems the others have decided to stay out of my range. Or rather, they seems to have surrounded me in a loose circled of death, awaiting for me to make some mistakes
The average aiming time for a normal person with gun training is from 1 to 4 seconds. The longer you aim down your gun, the more accurate your shots will be, which varies on the type of gun you're using but the fact is still true. Sprinting, walking, or moving in general will hinder your focus, thus significantly lower your precision
To focus on making the shot, you'll have to sacrifice your time and risk letting the enemy take advantage of your exposed position by shooting at your blind spot. In a life-or-death situation at close range, this will only result in you becoming live target for them
To which I say: Hell no. There's more badass ways to die than being shot for trying to land a headshot and being a showoff. It'd be the most embarrassing death ever
I won't waste my time with this. If they're not going to attack me, I'm just going to attack them, and I'm gonna make sure I have fun doing that
The best strategy in this case would be to stunned the first guy and killed the rest before he can recover, then kill him too. Less risk and more glory
Why would I go to such length just to flex my skills like this? You would ask
Apparently killing enemies in a flashy way allows me to score a [Brutal Takedown], which enables me to earn up to four times the normal EXP usually earned from killing these guys. It's a good thing, since I'm bored from constantly shooting their heads off anyway
BANG BANG
Two shots to the chest. The guy froze up in shock from the impact, allowing me to slip past him unobstructed and get to the two gunners behind
I pistol-whipped the first one across the face, ripping off his lower jar, shot the second one just as he was about to raised his gun, and at the same time dodged a strike aiming at my head from the third one
I elbowed him in his guts, making him bent down in pain, opening an opportunity to dropkick him. I didn't really expect his head to explode from the force of the kick, but oh well...
Three down. Five to go
I punched a hole through the fourth's rib with my gun, before shooting it into his heart, effectively killing him. I twisted around so now i was behind the the bandit as I used his corpse as meat shield against another hail of bullets from the last three
I charged at them with the human shield still raised in front of me. They frantically dodged to the side, but one was too slow as I crashed into her, crushing her organs from the sheer force of our impact
Five down. Three to go
Throwing their corpses to the side, I put down my guns. The first one seems like he's about to come out of his shock. *sigh* looks like I'll have to deal with these two quickly now
Appearing behind the sixth one and grabbing him by the head, I bashed his face against a nearby boulder, smearing blood across the stone surface and disfigured his skull from the damage done. The force is enough for him to bounced back from the impact, to which I punched him one last time for good measure
The seventh, instead of trying to retaliate, threw down his weapon and ran off to the opposite direction for his dear life
To be honest, it's a little bit too late for that...You should have done that sooner when you had the chance
My shadow rapidly extended until it reached his. From there a large, beastly hand protrude out of my umbra and grabbed his leg tightly, stopping him completely on his track. It then proceed to....well, dragged him into my shadow. I don't know what happened to him to him, but the guy's probably dead
BANG
I shot the first guy, who was still stunned all this time, causing him to fell back and hit the ground hard. Blood poured out of his head in stream, courtesy of the new hole on his head
[Brutal Takedown] executed! 1,250 EXP earned!
For a moment there I feel pretty badass, as if I'm really an agent of chaos delivering his punishment his victims. One Batch, Two Batch, Penny and Dime
"Die, you monster!"
And then that moment ended when one of them stabbed me through the heart. Turn out it's the guy who I thought I killed before. Apparently he's still alive, but certainly not for long judging from his wound
The man grinned at me with his bloody face before collapsing to the ground, no longer breathing
...he probably thought he killed me, poor guy....
I sighed as I pulled the knife out of my chest, my wound already healing itself "That's two hit. I should really be more cautious in the future"
I took a look at my surrounding. Well, looks like I've completely annihilated this camp. 32 kills and only get hits twice, I'd say that's an improvement from last time.
The EXP I received after this should be likely to guarantee a level-up
"Well, aren't you going to say goodbye to me?" I turned around and smiled "Leaving the party so soon...your men are dying to have you with them, you know?"
The bandit leader froze in his spot. All at once, sweats started rolling down his head
"How did he sensed me? I'm invisible!" He screamed internally. At that moment the man felt a hand being put on his shoulder, and his invisibility shattered
He stood there, shaking like a leaf in front of the monster's eyes as it gazed at him with an analytical look
"W-wait" he pleaded "The money's in the back tent, just take it and leave me go"
"Oh don't worry buddy, I'm gonna let you go" I smiled "But first, hand me over your clothe"
I actually wanted to eat him, but the man seems to be pretty low-level. His clothe on the other hand seems to have some sort of special power to it. It would make a nice substitute to my current one
"B-but..." He trailed off, before stopping himself "As you wish"
"Well now, if only everybody on this world is as smart as you, perhaps Remnant would become a better place" I grinned as he handed me his robe, now standing naked in the snow except for his underwear
BANG
The bandit's eyes widened in shock. His hand automatically grasped the bleeding wound on his chest in vain. Slowly, he looked over to me, who had smoke slowly rising out of my gun barrel
He stumbled back, all the while venomously cursing me and my family. With a 'thud', his body fell to the ground like a sack of potato, still twitching violently from the shock impact
"No hard feeling, buddy" I said in sympathy "I was originally going to let you go, but THEN you may want to come back for revenge in the future. Unlike those good protagonist in shounen manga, I don't want to take any chances and stabbed myself in the guts later on. It'll be better for me if you're dead beforehand"
"If you're going to blame something, then blame yourself for being too weak in the first place"
His eye rolled to the back of his head as his body stopped twitching. Now he is dead
And then all was silent as I stood there staring at his corpse. Having calmed down from the recent blood lust, I begin to think about what I just did as the post-killing clarity settled in.
"...What have I done now?..."
On one part, I feel pretty horrified about what just happened. On the other part...I just simply doesn't care
When you are reincarnated as a monster of darkness and having to kill your way through this world to survive, everything becomes pretty dull for you. In the gamer's sense, it's not "murdering people", but merely what you would call "low-level grinding", or at least from my point of view that is
I guess those people who complained about video games on television is partly right. Playing a game doesn't make you violent, but it can still makes you partly desensitized to it
Oh well, it's more of a blessing in disguise for me. At least I don't have to vomit every time I see a dead body like a fucking newbie on the business
Speaking of blessings, it's time to take some breakfast from these bandits
<><><><><><><><><><><>
Ding!
You have learned [Job Class: Swordman]: Allow you to use basic swordsman skills! +20% Damage when using a sword
You can now equip yourself with sword items! (Except Katana! Katanas are for fucking weebs!)
Ding!
You have learned [Job Class: Thief]: Allow you to use thief's skills! +20% Damage when using crossbows
You can now equip yourself with [Crossbow] items!
You have learned [Pickpocket]: 35% of successfully taking someone's money without them noticing. Success rate will increase depend on your current level (+1% for every higher level between you and your target)
You have learned [Sneaking]: The art of moving unseen and unheard. Highly-skilled sneakers can even hide in plain sight!
Ding!
You have leveled up! You are now level 60!
Nice, this is actually pretty good for a bunch of low-level enemies. I guess even quantity sometime beats quality huh
Right, now that I've eaten all of them, let's discard my clothes and tried out the new one I got from their leader. Since I have no use for the cloak and scarf anymore, it's okay to eat them and absorb their properties, thus turning them into a passive which cannot be worn out like a piece of fabric on your body
Nom Nom Nom Nom, there goes my clothes
You have learned [Nightshade] (Passive): Turn the user into shadow when channeled with Aura. User in shadow form can pass through walls and is immune to physical attack in the first 3 second before turning invisible after that!
You have learned [Torment] (Passive): Inflict a Damage Over Time effect that deals 4.5% of an enemy's full health for over 3 seconds. Can be stacked up to 5 times (22.5%)!
You have learned [Blood Thief] (Passive): You heal 25% of the total damage dealt to enemies (critical damage included)
"Shit...so cold" I shivered in the freezing temperature of Atlas, now completely naked from head to toe with nothing to cover my skin "Better put this on as fast as possible"
The bandit leader's clothe surprisingly fit me well, it's as if it's been tailored personally for me, even though we all know it's not the case. That guy must have been several inches taller than me, so there's simply no way it could have shrink itself to my size
This has to be another one of those game logic again. Not that I'm complaining of course, just saying it's better this way
(A very big shout out to @ReCode097 for suggesting this new outfit for (Y/n))
Ding!
You have equipped the [Red Hood Rider Outfit] ! A convenient piece of equipment in case you want to visit your grandma and kill some big bad wolves on the way!
[Red Hood Rider] (Uncommon)
+4 Inventory Slot
+100 Armor
- Black Rose (Passive): Every hit will deal 5% of the enemy's lost health. Can stack up with base damage and on-hit effect to further your own damage
- Thorns (Passive): 10% chance to deflect full damage back to the enemy. The harder they hit, the harder they fall. Can be applied to on-hit effect as well
"The Armor stat is kinda underwhelming, but the passives are excellent though" I remarked, my eyes skimmed over the armor's description
It seems I was right. This is some quality shit here, no wonder the leader seems so reluctant to hand it to me in exchange for his life. Granted I would have killed him regardless, but it'd less bothersome if he handed it first to me in the first place to avoid blood spilling on the cloth
Let's see, I've gotten a new outfit, I've learned a bunch of new skills, I've leveled up a few times. Generally I profited a lot from this bandit raid. What's left for me to do?....
Oh right! Of course! How could I have forgot!?
You can't finish a raid without earning some kind of loot. Now, if I remember correctly, the bandit's leader said there are some money in the back tent. perhaps I should start searching there, maybe I can find some interesting things along the journey
I rounded my ways between the unorganized tents, searching for one that looks like it could be containing some kind of treasures inside. Most of them were empty with a few pillows here and there, nothing of interest to me
After some time, I finally came upon a tent which is separated from the rest. Walking inside i could tell that it was, indeed, the treasury where the bandits stored all their loots
There were stacks of chests sitting in the corner, waiting to be unraveled by me. Shooting up the locks, I walked closer to them and inspected the cases. There were several dozens of them in general, but my attention is drawn to the three sitting in the middle of the room
Something tell me those were the most valuables
"Hmm...I guess you could call these chests as lootboxes" I smiled "I mean, there aren't that much differences between them, considering the situation"
Saying it like that, but i sincerely hoped the Game System won't pull an EA on me and forced me to pay for these things, cause that would seriously suck
"Alright, first one" I kicked open the one on the left and peered inside
Inside the chest are hundreds of Lien cards, all of them stacked neatly into piles. A closer look would reveal them to be of different color. Some were green, others were purple, while the rest are gold. I guess the colors represents the units of currency in Remnant
Ding!
X200 [5 Lien Card]
X150 [50 Lien Card]
X100 [100 Lien Card]
X50 [200 Lien Card]
Total: 28,500 Lien
Do you want to deposit these items into your inventory?
Hell Yes
There was a flash, and all those Lien card disappeared into thin air. At the same time i can feel something dropping into my inventory, like a slight mental weight adding itself to the growing pile inside my brain
"Nice, this will prove useful to me" I muttered "Perhaps there's still some hope of purchasing that [Caster] class after all..."
"Alright, second chest!"
BAM. I kicked open the thing and looked inside
"...."
Books. All kinds of books lying there. The slight glow they gave off are the signs that they are not your average literature garbage that your teacher would talk about in class, but rather skill books that contains valuable information inside that hopefully I could learn something from
[A Lost History of Magic]
[Sword Fighting For Dummies]
[Boobie Traps For Beginner Jungler]
[An Anatomy Of Grimm]
[A Guide To Newbie Assassin]
there were many more, the titles of which I don't have the time to read. With a mental command, I stored them all in my inventory just like the last chest
I'll consume those things later when I had the time
I then turned to the last one, the one in the middle with several locks on it. Somehow, this one feels different from the rest
I don't know, there's just this dark aura surrounding it that makes me kinda nervous. My instinct is telling me to ignore it and just leave it alone, while my body is begging me to open it and see what's inside...I'm conflicted
Ah, to hell with it! A good scavenger never shy away from his prize!
Shooting off the chains surrounding the chest, I carefully placed my hand on both side of it...and lifted the lid off
I had expected several things, but I certainly didn't expect this
"....What the hell?!"
Lying inside the chest...is a black marble coffin with a weird mark on it, the mark of a bleeding eye seemingly written in blood
I tried to open the coffin, only to find out that I can't, it's as though the whole thing was sealed up from the inside. I lift it off the chest and placed it on the ground. It's unusually heavy for an empty coffin
....If it's an empty coffin, that is
I knocked on it several time, but received no response each time. I shook the whole thing, but still no reply from the inside. In the end, I simply deduced that whoever lied in this casket is already dead some time ago, either that or the bandit used this thing to store their most valuable treasure inside
And still my curiosity still got the better of me as I inspect the writing on this thing
"Who the heck would name their child as Gluttony?" I muttered, seeing the name etched on it. At least, I assumed that's the name because it's written in bold and was positioned in the center of the stone surface, but there's no other way of knowing it
My hands trailed down the edge of the thing, until-
"Ouch!" i yelled as I accidentally cut my finger along the sharp outer edges. My blood spilled out onto the marble on the lid of the coffin
Before I can curse my carelessness, I suddenly noticed my blood flowing on the stone surface seems to form into pattern, almost resembling words
Curious, I poured out some more blood to see what it actually reads. The blood curved around, forming many different connected letters. Before I can actually make out what it says, I was startled by a sudden sound near me
CLACK
i whipped around in caution, but could see no one here beside myself. The room was still empty, as it was supposed to be. A few moments of silence passed with no other sounds in the room except for my own breathing
Shrugging, i went back to observing the coffin, blaming the previous noise on some kind of rat in the room, mostly to calm my nerves
My eyes trailed down, reading the short poem written on it. Just like the mark, these lines seems to be inscribed in blood. Or in this case, my blood
~The Bird of Hermes is my name
Eating my wings to keep me tame~
For some reason a chill ran down my spine as I read that particular quote. I couldn't help but feel like I've seen this line somewhere before
"If I remember right it's taken from the Ripley Scroll, but why would someone put that on their coffin?" I asked aloud, wondering about the identity of the body inside the thing
Just what is inside this casket?
Why is it locked like that?
Why is this phrase etched on it?
The more I think about it, the more i am confused. This thing looks like one of those objects where demons are sealed inside, but there's no demon in the RWBY universe right?
Shaking my head, I decided that's enough for the day. Standing up and walking out of the tent, I closed the flap behind me. I tried to forget about the black coffin, but it just seems to stuck in the corner of my mind
This is a pretty weird start for a vacation. Way too weird for my liking
With that thought in his head, (Y/n) strode out toward the forest again, continue on his journey to the beautiful island of Menagerie, all thoughts of the dreadful object pushed away for a more happy tone as he contemplate what he's gonna do when he get there
Unbeknownst to him, the coffin back in the tent started shaking, before the rest of the poem appeared in blood
The Bird of Hermes is my name
Eating my wings to keep me tame
From the bodies blood are shed
Soon the ghouls become undead
The Bird of Hermes comes soon
Not morning, evening or afternoon
The Bird of Hermes feeds on fright
Soon blood shall stain the night
The Bird of Hermes will devour
Their enemies at midnight hour
The Bird of Hermes is my name
Eating my wings to keep me tame
The night shall soon be stained with red
You and your child lay bleeding and dead
Your bodies shall rise soon
And join The Nightmare's platoon
You shall learn to live in the night
For ghouls are made to fight
The stench of blood is ever sour
The Bird's enemies shall ever cower
The Bird of Hermes is my name
Eating my wings to keep me tame
Slowly, ever so slowly, the coffin's lid opened. From the shadows within, two crimson eyes sparked to life, seemingly filled with life, yet devoid of it at the same time
"How long has it been?..."
How will (Y/n) react when he realized he'd accidentally unleashed the most powerful Deadly Sins heir into the world, by unknowingly putting his blood on the coffin?
How will he react when he realized that same heir has been accidentally bonded to him and now has to hunt him down for an eternity?
It'll probably result in some screaming on his part.
A lot of screaming
<><><><><><><><><><><>
Author's Note: To be honest I have no idea how it turned out like this
This chapter was supposed to cover some loopholes in previous updates, yet here we are, introducing another Deadly Sins to the gang. Soon enough Lust and Greed will probably stumbled upon him by accident if nothing else
*sigh* Honestly, when will you stop messing up my plans for you, (Y/n)?
