She could feel him struggling underneath her
The stench of blood, so familiar to the Hunters, stuck to the Rakuyo as she pulled it out of the man's chest. A pale face stared back at her in desperation
"Ma...ri..a" His hand weakly rose up, caressing her cheeks as she watched on blankly. Her lips moved, but nothing came out
What can she possibly say?
"W...k..p" Bloodied hand placed against her face
"Wake...up" He croaked "Wake up. You don't...don't know what you're messing with"
She can't. They already invested too far at this point to give up. Even if that means to get rid of him...
"Wake up!"
The blade was raised once more. Slender hand wrapped around the handdle, tightening ever so slowly
"Wake...up!"
With once decisive motion, she brought it down. Blood spattered on her face, dazing the Hunter at the strange taste
His grip on hers loosened, dropping to the ground lifelessly
"You fool...Yharnam will...suffer...for this"
The dying man whispered grimly. The light in his eyes dimmed
Thunder boomed in the distance. Droplets of blood poured on her on the rainfall
An inhuman sound echoed from the depth of the ocean
Of anger.
Of madness.
Of a hatred so unfamiliar with a Great One
Yet she knows what it is
The cry of a grieving mother, calling out to it's lost child
<><><><><><><><>
The Vileblood jolted in the wooden chair. Her non-existent heart hammering away within her chest
Specters danced in her vision. When she blinked again they were gone, leaving behind the empty room she'd been sleeping in for a long time
Who is he?
The Nightmare toss and churns as she took a deep breath. Visions of a time long past still haunting as the day they happened
It plagued the Hunter's memory. A shadow cast from the light of her bloodied deeds
Do I know him?
Yes she does. She knows that man.
She wish she doesn't
Ghostly pain surfaced within. The guilt of that night burned deeper in the Vileblood's mind than any blade could
Oh how the secret beckons...torturing her with visions of what could have. A possibility...a chance, that he would keep his curiosity in check and live to see the dawn of sea
But he didn't. Unspeakable things happened that night at the hamlet. Burying of secrets that the Hunters never tell anyone
They are two people, forever separated because of the Hunt. A corpse of her old self best left forgotten in this realm, and a man six league under the ocean
She still remembers him, however
She dreams of him every night
Amidst the crashing wave of the hamlet, his figure illuminated against the moonlight, smiling that haunted smile of his
For every cycle of the hunt his voice grew louder, ever clearer, causing the Hunter to sway in unrest on her wooden chair
He will come back. He will come back for her
And when he does, there's no telling what he would do
With a sigh, Lady Maria tipped her hat downward once more
The night is still long. The moon is still so far away
What will she be, but the one to guard this secret from behind it all?

My Saw Cleaver stopped mid-swing
There was that familiar sound of movement to my right. My instinct took hold of me as I ducked, avoiding a hand swipe from my enemy
I quickly jumped to the side to evade their following attack. The Beast-possessed Soul roared before sending off blazing wizzes of flame that burned away at our surrounding.
Using Quickening, I burst through the attack and impaled the Saw Spear through its skull. I twisted the handle and ripped it out, spattering blood and brain matters on the wall
Blood Gauge: 25/70
As the Beast fell to the ground, I stood there. A hearty clapping soon sounded from behind me
"I must say, that's a splendid execution of the Quickening" A voice sounded "Nobody had done that so flawlessly since the time of Master Gehrman and Lady Maria"
My eyes flickered to the Phantom of Djura who's smiling at me.
After the man died he was sent to the same place as Gascoigne and everyone else. Using my power, I was able to summon him for my ascend into the Healing Church Workshop
At first he was reluctant to help me. But eventually I was able to convince him with the promise of setting Yharnam free from the Scourge. Since the man cannot do anything against me, he eventually agreed
He won't help me fight against Beasts tho. They're a no-no in his book
"I was trained by him after all" I shrugged, moving past the Phantom. Kicking a chest open, I quickly looted the stuff inside it
+ [Radiant Hunter Badge]
This will allow me to purchase Ludwig's Holy Blade and his Rifle. Not a bad catch. I have been aiming for this item for some time
Previously I've travelled through Hypogean Gaol and went past Old Yharnam. Now I'm on my way to the Abadoned Hunter Workshop to get the Umbilical Cord. After that I'll return to the Dream for a while and have a short rest before continuing on with Castle Cainhurst
I walked toward the window's ledge and jumped down. I scaled the bricks with ease, carefully navigating myself down the vertical surface, before landing on the obscured patch of land
Mist plagued the building as I made my way toward it. I gazed up at the familiar, yet unfamiliar structure
Yes, that's the same Workshop as the one i the Dream. But compared to the homely atmosphere it has, this one radiates nothing but a sombre mood. The Doll, the Messengers, and even the vegetation are absent, create for a haunting sight before me
"Feeling unwell, good Hunter?"
"It's too quiet" I admitted, staring at the barren landscape before me "The Dream is my first safe haven when I woke up. To see it in this state is...unsettling to say the least..."
"Alas, but tis' is reality. When Ludwig joined the Hunt, the people found no need for Gehrman and his Workshop, so they left him to dwell alone in there" Djura's voice become saddened "I left for the Powder Keg. Eventually, when we returned, he had already passed away in his sleep"
An ugly emotion bubbled inside me
Ah
Gehrman...that old man. To have his dearest disciple commiting suicide and then left alone with no one to console but the doll he created.
The doll that resembled his former student. Yet instead of hope she brings, her presence only caused him to further fall into despair
Bloodborne truly has a taste for dark humor
I shook my head and head inside. Through the fog I plucked up the Old Hunter's Bone from the headstone
The hair ornament came next, looted from the closet
The Umbilical Cord piece from the Memory Altar
I stopped at the motionless doll.
Eventually I decided why not and looted her clothe
There were few to take, but too much to see, so I quickly left as soon as I was done litting the lamp. Being in this place where the old man made the contract with Flora brought with me uncomfortable feelings
I felt like I'm being watched by numerous eyes just by standng here
Djura must have sensed my mood, for the rest of the journey back he opted to kill the Huntsman for me with no complaint. I nodded in gratitude for him

With a snap of the blade, the newly-purchased Ludwig's Holy Blade settled onto my back. The sword of the first Church Hunter felt comfortable on my grip, as if it was made specifically for me
There's only so much time you can spend wielding unique weapons before you develop a taste for the classic
It was a normal long sword when unsheathed. But when transformed by sheathing the blade, this sword can turn into a greatsword, dealing greater damage along with a higher potential for stunning enemies
The weapon is one of the more familiar things I recall when entering this world. Either because of its history to my old world, or the numerous appearances it makes in other Souls game
Well. At least I won't teleported to Dark Souls once I finished this
"Where's Gehrman?" I asked Mary. The doll, in return, bowed her head
"He's sleeping in the garden, good Hunter"
I simply nodded and continued my way up the Workshop. I'll go visit him later, right after I finished with my business here
First I fortify my weapons, particularly Ludwig's Holy Blade with the saved up Blood Gemstones from my recent endeavours. I was able to up its properties for quite an amount
Next I spent some time buying the equipments from the Messengers. As usual, the Blood Vials were sold to them while I purchased some more pack of Bone Marrow Ash and, of course, fire paper
Having done my usual routine in the Dream, I left through the side of the Workshop and into the Garden
The night wind ruffled through my coat, chilling my body to the sheer wrongness of it
Tonight, the presence lingered on the back of my mind, as if searching for something
When I arrived, the old man was leaning against his wheelchair. His form slumped, the rising and falling of his chest is the only indication that he hadn't hit the dirt yet
I took a moment to observe my mentor. While inactive and apathetic at first, there's no doubt that he and I have grown closer over time, to the point of him actively teaching me new things whenever I returned to the Dream. From tips on weapon craftings, to certain weapon combos only privy to the hunters of the Dream before me
"You really remind me of her"
For a while, I've wondered who this woman he keeps comparing me to. The one he would always talked about with vigor and passion, as though a father gloating about his lovely daughter
It finally dawned on me that the woman was Maria
One can only imagine my surprise at that point, for me to be compared with his best student so soon into the Hunt.
I mean...I'm not even of this world. I only think of Bloodborne as a game. and it is only through the system's abilities that I survived thus far
The Hunter he regarded me as is different from me in every aspect as a rat and an eagle
Shaking my head, I decided the mumbling man to his own dream. I looked at him over my shoulder a last time, then looked at the Umbilical Cord in my hand
Hesitatingly, I started eating it
+3 Insight gained

After that I visited the Grand Cathedral for the second time
Having killed the three bosses, Arianna easily acquiesced to my guide to the Oedon Chapel. I took the time to escort her there in case a beast decided to attack
As the Chapel's door opened, I was once again greeted with the familiar sight of the Dweller sitting in the corner. Farther back in the building was the small-minded man, grumbling as he played with Gascoigne's little girl
Ah. Maybe it's time for him to see her
I "absentmindedly" summoned Gascoigne
From the fog a burly figure merged at lightning speed
"My little girl!" He yelled eagerly as the old Hunter straight up barreled toward his child "Are you okay? You're scared, aren't you? Don't worry, papa's here..."
However, his hand simply passed through her as he was once reminded of his Phantom state. He grimaced.
Sighing heavily, Gascoigne settled with staying near his daughter and watched as she interacted with the man
I ignored them in favor of continue walking forward
"It's good to see you again, good Hunter" Iosefka greeted as I walked in. She was sitting next to the old demented woman from the dog kennel
"What are you doing?"
Judging from the several equipements lying on the table, the church doctor was probably conducting some form of experiment on her. My finger twitched at the thought of another imposter Iosefka in here
Thankfully, her next word dissipate that doubt
"I am treating this woman who is afflicted with antidote overuse" She frowned, checking the sleeping woman's pulse "Erratic behavior. Hallucination. Sudden bouts of aggressiveness. If not cured in time, it may be too late for her"
This...never happened in the game. I never thought saving Iosefka would lead to her being able to provide treatment to the people like this
Then again, this is the real world. Unscripted action have their own consequences here
"Is there anyway I can help?"
"At the moment, no. But if you can simply maintain distance between us, I would be grateful" She paused, before hastily adding "N-not like that, of course! Isolation from Hunter's the only sure method to slow down the afflicted conditions as they will have less contact with the infected blood"
I nodded and made the mental note. Moving on, I let Arianna choose her own seat. She took the wooden chair at the upper platform just like the game
Now, I'm very sure any saveable people are already been gathered here. Those that remains are either those that have the disease like Gilbert, those who lock themselves indoor, or those who are narrow-minded in their trust of the Hunters
I made all the best possible choices, so no regret there
The problem now lies with my second recent addition to the Chapel
Adella scrunched up her nose. I saw her eyes roamed along Arianna's outfit before it widened in realization.
"I know what you're thinking" Before she could go full Yandere mode I grabbed the nun by her shoulder "But reconsider. You're both survivor of this Hunt. It would be bad if you kill her and get kicked out of this sanctuary, right?"
She numbly nodded
"So then, will you give the Vileblood a chance? Please take this church hunter's words to heart"
My hand slowly left her shoulder. I considered the contemplative look on the nun's face a success
Now I just need to avoid taking blood from Arianna. Not just because that will trigger the event, but also for a different purpose
I know there's no saving the whore. If she wasn't killed by Adella, the Pthumerian blood inside her will cause her to get impregnated by Oedon once the blood moon rose. That will be unavoidable, but I can benefit from this
Due to this being a crossbredding disaster of the highest order, a celestial baby will be born. If I let the birthing happen, the baby will drop one third of an Umbilical Cord once killed.
I don't want to do this
But if I want to do anything, then it won't be Bloodborne

The Forbidden Woods was next
A forest on the outskirts of Yharnam. Home to a village of those chased from the city, and the nesting grounds of a great, venomous snake.
My trip there was simple and uneventful
Well, as simple and uneventful as any Hunt would be. I gain entry by travelling to a different part of the Ward, at a graveyard guarded by sleeping giants. To the side was the gate that will lead to my destination
I unlocked it using the password obtained from the Grand Cathedral's altar. At this point I've grown tired of these enemies, so I crushed them using [Gravity Manipulation]. [Razor's Edge] meanwhile was used to create wind bursts that cut other beasts from a distance
Their range are somehow increased when combined with [Sniping] even though I'm not using bullets
I simply chalked it up to a simple misconception of the skill. Deciding that I might as well be done with this, I add the final point into [Dexterity]
Dexterity: 10/10 (Maxed)
- You have achieved the first apex condition of a Hunter.
- All Dexterity Skills are maxed out
A new skill had been learned
[Afterimage]: A hunter is always on the hunt. You moved at speed that left behind images trailing after you, confusing the enemies
- You can create a maximum of 1 afterimage at the same time
- Afterimages lasts for 1 second
I paused
Once I hit level 10 on one stat, it means all the skills belonging to that respective stats will be maxed out
Wait...so that means I've just wasted almost a hundred thousand Blood Echoes strengthening my skill? Isn't this too bullshit and unfair?
Huh. On second thought, that also means I don't have to spend Blood Echoes on skills I consider too pricy.
The thought calmed me down. I'm still pissed, but at least that saves me more trouble with money down the lane. I could just grind on Insight and fight Boss to max out the stats in a more convenient way than I initially thought
Well then, time to spend Insight on more of them. Might as well do that before I enter the woods for an easier Hunt. I have 19 Insights, enough to level up my...
...
Yeah, I entirely forgot about Luck until now
Luck: 1/10
A New Skill had been learned
- [Scavenge]: A Hunter does not necessarily do it for the prey. It might just be the scent of profit that guides them
- Slightly increased drops from enemies when killed
Luck: 2/10
A new skill had been learned
- [Death Sentence]: A human cannot escape the eventuality of fate, but a Hunter will defy it. Grants a chance to reduce all enemies (exclusive bosses) Health in one hit
- Chance for Instant Kill: 15%

Author's Note: And that's it for today, I was going to write more considering this is the Forbidden Woods Hunter's about to walk into, but eventually decided to just split the chapter in two so you can enjoy
