Infinitely spiralling outward
Infinitely spiralling inward
This Reality Marble trap its target in both the outer edge of this Field and at its center simultaneously. If the one inside it attempted to move, reality followed them, thus teleporting to a different point in spacetime would not work
In that way, the Field prevents its main target from escaping its grasp. A simple, but admittedly interesting concept
As I stare at the sky, I considered the few possibilities of countering this
Seal no.9 is needed to completely break this thing apart. Several mana pulses to overpower this simple trap should be a simple thing, but at that point the boundary separating this reality to the real world will be completely destroyed.
With nothing in between to contain that influx of Mana all matters inside will collapse to the vacuum left behind, sucked into the infinite space outside the edge of reality where their data is compressed and never to return in whole
Simply put, the amount of mana I can generate would be too much to handle
The universe itself would implode just from me exerting pressure on them
Really. My average life up until this point in time and all the average people I've made acquaintance when I first come here will cease to exist. People like Rin, Sakura, Kirei, Kiritsugu, as well as other characters that have yet to appear, simply snapped out of existence
My finger twitched
Whoever came up with this flawless plan of theirs is bound to get disappointed
I pulled out my phone and scrolled upon the contact list of the seven ultimate beings residing at my house.
"Come, my Familiars"
I pressed the call button
Seven of them responded upon the first ring tone as they the spatial fabric warped out from nothingness.
I looked at the seven shadows emerging from the surrounding space, their face set in grim determination. All the present TYPE's look as though they are ready for war
...
...Why are they all posing in such a menacing way?
"What would you ask of us, master (L/n)?"
ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´
ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´
ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´ă‚´
You know what? I don't think it's something I need to know
I gestured at the darkened red sky. Almost immediately, it pulsed in response at the middle finger sent its way
"As you can see, a Bounded Field has been erected from an unknown point of time in the past" They all nodded at my words.
"The existence of this World has been overridden so that every life form in this universe are to be made hostile against me, except from you who are not a part of them"
"Spread out across the multiverse" I sighed "Just...kill the thing that made this. After that you can have dinner without me"
They both followed my eyes toward the sky
"The thing that made this?" Venus pointed to the sky while smiling "It will be over in seconds. Isn't sending the seven of us overkill, Master?"
"I believe you are underestimating them" I grinned slightly "Well, let me enlighten you"
I Traced a knife in my hand. With a flick of my wrist it was sent flying upward, tip plunging into the barrier
A loud sizzle sounded as it was erased out of existence just moments later.
The familiar's senses were keen enough to detect the shift of magic in their surrounding, their eyes soon narrowed
"The Fourth is different than the rest of us Magicians. That is to say, you cannot defeat them in a normal sense. All physical attacks against them are negated, same case with conceptual attacks and magic one" I informed them
"Can't you and the Second do the same?"
"Each of our Magics work on independent concepts. Zelretch can transfer the attack to another dimension. Old man Aozaki can reverse the causality behind said attack, while I can alter them to be harmless to me...or create another that match them in power" A sigh escaped my lips
"The Fourth, meanwhile, can negate it completely, so do keep that in mind when using your Type-Arms against them"
"What if we use our Reality Marbles to negate their negation?"
"Do what you can, as long as you solve this inconvenience before morning comes"
I turned my back and walked away
"After all, I still have school to attend tomorrow"
<><><><><><>
I lied
The Bounded Field can be destroyed without overloading them. Using a combination of my three magics I can simply alter their properties and manipulate them to be harmless toward me
The problem is this
Quest: Kill the Fourth Magician
Reward:
(ºωº )
Passively, I gazed at the game window
This game window haunt me at every step of my life
If I was the one who kills him, the system will give me the Fourth Magic. That means I would be the Magician of the First, Third, Fourth and Fifth True Magic
If with the previous ones I already have the power to destroy multiverses at a whim, just how much stronger would that make me? Just what new levels above average would this bring me to? A hundred? A thousand? A million times?
Whatever the answer, I don't think any of them would be good
The sound of chatter disappeared behind me. I gazed back to see my Familiars have warped out of existence, bringing themselves to the Fourth's place. Up above the barrier was torn open, as though a great amount of force has ripped through them
I allow myself to relax
Alright, now that was taken care of, let's immobilize the rest of this town's citizen to prevent them from attacking m-
"Oh. (Y/n)..."
A hand gently wrapped itself around my eyes. Their texture soft, their tone pleasant, and the aromatic of scent of death clinging to them brough a shiver down my spine
Another hand coiled under and the person hugged me from behind
"Guess who?"
My mind blanked
"S-Shiki?"
"Correct" The woman hummed. Her hand gently cupping my chin from behind as if influenced by a force of habit "Of course, you would not have mistaken me for the other Shiki Ryougi, right?"
"Why, I would never do that" I said, gently removing her hand from my eyes
(Y/n) lied as naturally as he breathe
It is not difficult not to forget the girl who'd just tried to kill him just mere hours ago. In fact, if one were to look closely they would see that his eyes were looking at anywhere but behind him right now
Removing her other hand, I slowly turned around, catching sight of Shiki's eyes as I cauiously made to face her
Instead of their normal dazzling blue, her eyes were now replaced with a dull grey. But rather than let myself be surprised by that obsrvation, my gaze turned downward, where the rest of her blue kimono had been stained a crimson red
The red of blood, to be exact
Now that I think about it, the entire town has been rather silent ever since five minutes ago...
"What are you doing here?" I chose to change the subject before it coulf get awkward "The last time I met you I managed to attain the Fifth Magic. Don't tell me I'm going to get the Fourth as well?"
"No. Not yet" Void's eyes crinkled into a smile that frankly made me felt nervous "I'm merely here for the spectacle"
Hm. That's understandable
No. No it's not. What do you mean not yet?
Seeing my confused gaze, she blinked
"You truly don't know" Void queried. I tilted my head, before shaking it in refutation, making her sigh in return
"I figure. There's so much omniscience can do about something like this..." She squared her shoulder, giving an honest smile "But worry not, that is why I am here. For starter, you already who the Fourth Magician is, right?"
I nodded my head. It's not hard to make a process of elimination and arrive at the same conclusion. After all, predicting the purpose of the Magic itself is plenty of evidence in itself, which is why I can answer with confidence
"The Counter Force" was my reply
The last magician is not a person. Not a he. Not a she. But it
Despite being called "the will of the planet/mankind", the Counter Force bear no emotions. They are described as passive spirals of energy that respond to threats of planet destruction or human extinction
This explains the pattern on the Bounded Field
The Counter Forces are always active, constantly steering mankind and the planet away from potential danger. Yet in spite of this it act indirectly. For instance, Shiki Ryougi was driven by the Counter Force to eliminate the threat that is Souren Araya, while historically, Jeanne D'Arc is also named as one who was empowered by the Counter Force
This explains the reason why everyone's been attacking me
A deterrent force with no sentience that strives to prevent the extinction of mankind and the planet at all cause. It is fundamentally a part of nature, and at the same time something that exit outside of it
This is why physical Mystery cannot influence it
I cupped a hand to my chin
"But you saying that doesn't help me figure out anything"
"It is more a reminder than a clue. Rather than asking the why, it's better to think about the how's of the Fourth Magic"
I frowned
The Fourth Magic in its possession is exactly what it represents. Erasure of Totality. Similar to the other of its brethren, Fourth constitute an aspect of Nothingness
First Magic, "To deny the state of Nothingness". Second magic, "To peer beyond Nothingness". Third Magic, "To grasp and understand Nothingness". Fifth Magic "To alter the principles of Nothingness"
And the Fourth, "To return everything into Nothingness". A direct contrast to my original Magic
That is why it is classified as a Magic that "does not exist". Everything about the Counter Force's nature contradict the common sense most Magic lives by - reversion of all things to a place beyond the start of their origin- and therefore even when it is there, its existence is unknown to them
Mostly non-existent, that is
"Wait"
I narrowed my eyes, tilting my head to one side
"If I am marked as a target of elimination, the Counter Force considered me it's enemy. Why is that?"
Shiki smiled, a hint of mirth hiding itself beneath those eyes
"Because you are an average Magus"
"Oh really?"
I stared at her
I sleeps, I studies, I struggles financially just like any normal person would. Surely the Counter Force itself should know to do something more worthwhile than hunting down a broke teenager who's trying to live life to the best of his ability?
Looking at Shiki's smiling face, countless thoughts raced through my head
Even with omniscience I found myself unable to reach a satisfactory conclusion
There's something I'm missing here, the Fourth Magician is being taken care of by my Familiars, and the rest of the town populations just isn't strong enough to face me in battle, enhanced as they are. Unless there exists another mean...
Hm
Hold on a second
Magic can only be obtained through contact with the Root. For the Counter Force to be based upon it... would result in total annihilation of all causal properties upon activation
My eyes widened
The revelation dawned on me seconds later
"Oh of course, since the Fourth Magician is the holder of the Fourth Magic, it also holds the authority over Nothingness and the power of the Counter Force itself" I sighed "I did not think about it. It should have been obvious"
What does this mean? Effectively there are two domain utilized as tools to keep the "software" of the world clean, since it would be troublesome to only have one
That of the Fourth Magic used to constitute extreme measures such as "deleting a corrupted file", and that of the Counter Force's own power to send in "Antivirus to take care of the initial source"
Even if they have their metaphorical hand busy, the Counter Force can just rely on their other authorities to strike me down, whereas I am still stuck relying on the True Magic as my main source of power
This is in correlation of Gaia and Alaya. Each enlist physical agents to deal with events too threatening to address with indirect intervention. What is unmentioned is the fact that one cannot use its power without them and the other is in a state of paralysis to effectively have a will of its own
Depending on the threat level, it could be just "coincidences" that push the anomaly back to the correct path, or it could be powers enough to level entire continents if they are a liability to the planet's population existence as a whole
The "spectacle" Shiki is referring to simple
Gaia uses Phantasmal beasts, True Ancestors, and Fairies to cull the anomaly. Meanwhile, Alaya employ the uses of other existence. Existences that were bound to its rule by a single contract, and could potentially combat against the stronger threats in this world
Existence similar to that one red archer from Fate/Stay Night
That is to say...right now there was supposed to be a Counter Guardian sent to take care of me
So focused was (Y/n) in his thoughts that he didn't notice the flash of light in the distance. Behind him, Shiki's permanent smile grew faint
The wind shifted. Violent currents of zephyr twisted in a spiral pattern. A strangely-shaped arrow streaked across the sky, heralding its target a destructive end
In the span of a moment where he had lowered his guard, the projectile crashed against (Y/n)'s body, lodging itself in his skull with the force of a jet plane. Shockwaves exploded forward and blew away the rest of the street
After several seconds, I realized there is an arrow sticking from the side of my head
My hand reach out to grip the twisted projectile
I turned it over in my hand, only to sigh a second time
"...Hey, Shiki?"
"Yes?"
"You should have told me about this sooner"
"No way. I want to see you actually struggling for once"
The arrow exploded, swallowing my surrounding into a sphere of pure energy
A moment later, the mana started rushing in, condensing into an infinitesimal point in time. Without hesitation it burst forward
The entire town of Misaki was destroyed in one single, final blast
<><><><><>
Counter guardians are existence that should not be disclosed to the living
Evidently, that does not mean they are beyond existence in nature, as it would indicate a lack of need for the preservation of the world. No, that is the job of the Quantum Time Lock to cull the Singularities and Lostbelts lost to time
For years the Mage's Association had tracked down and determine their existence with undeniable ease. Simply by tracing their activities across the globe before simply cross-referencing them across the map for further details, the Atlas magus can calculate the exact moment where the interference happened
Extinction-level events.
Pompeli
The sinking of Atlantis
The Black Plague
Two consecutive World Wars
Those are the periods in modern history where they are most densely deployed. So many loose ends to take care of. threats to eliminate, and blood to be shed. So much casualties the Human Order had suffered, they have to be sent in to take care of the mess
There was that one time one of them was sent to assassinate Hitler, but that was for another time
A better analogy of the Counter guardians would be a secret agency. Alaya is the head of the agency and they would be her operative. The Counter Guardians existence is known to eveyone, but in return no one knows about them. In that state they are everywhere, yet nowhere at the same time
But this time it was not Alaya who deployed them. They could still feel their connection to their slaver of a boss inside their core, only weakened...replaced by another presence that was all too familiar to the existence of their beings
The Counter Force had called upon them
Upon the distant hills overlooking the small town of Misaki, the mountain was painted with red
Countless Counter Guardians stood. Thousands in numbers, all armed with modern weaponry turned Noble Phantasm and Mystic Codes of their choosing
Archer's dull eyes glanced over their armaments
"More are coming" She muttered, pursing her lips "What do they need this many Counter Guardians for? Erasing Earth's entire population?"
"That happened before, EMIYA-san" Her partner commented, inspecting her gun "Stronger target, stronger force needed. There's a chance we will have to destroy a continent this time, if not multiple of them"
Another one of those then. Archer thought with a bitter taste. A clean up mission where nothing would come out alive
Well, in that case they should take the initiative
"Stand back" She ordered
As if roused from their inactive state, the red-colored army of guardians arranged themselves behind her. The crimson archer held out a hand, to which a bright flame sprung forth
"Trace. On"
There are even steps to the release of an arrow-
The pitch black bow materialized from the flame's core, followed by a formless rod of foreign steel on her other hand moments later
-Coincidentally, there are seven fundamental steps to the working of her Magecraft
The flame in her hand flickered
Ashibumi - Judging the concept of creation
An item of Celtic origin. Natural enemy to Cu Chulainn
Dozukuri - Hypothesizing the basic structure
Wield at full power by an Ulster-born, specialized in landscape destruction
Yugamae - Duplicating the composite material
Demonic origin. Unable to fully replicate exact component
Uchiokoshi - Imitating the skill of its making
Prototype to Caledfwlch, extension to Excalibur's prototype
Hikiwake - Sympathizing with the experience of its growth
A powerful spiral that can pierce through any obstacle
Kai - Reproducing the accumulated years
A burst of flame ingnited forward as the Noble Phantasm took form
The first six steps flashed by with barely a moment's notice. Their details ingrained in her beings, making the process nothing more but a second-hand instinct as the legendary sword of the hero Fergus easily manifested in her hand in definance to the law of the World
Last step. Hanare - Excelling every manufacturing process
- Caladbolg: The Rainbow Sword. Rank A Noble Phantasm ready for deployment
The fake helix sword slowly twisted. Growing thinner and thinner, with each centimeters of the string she pulled back allowing for greater aerodynamic potential
With greater aerodynamic...comes greater kinetic limitation, thus allowing for greater distance travelled
There was a click as she set the newly formed arrow against the shaft. The string was pulled taut, tight and ready to be loosed
"I am the bone of my sword"
The archer intoned the first verse of her aria
Wind rushed forward, coalesced into an upward spiral of powerful mana as they ebbed away the surrounding. The Counter guardian's red cloak billowed in the wind, but none of them focus on anything other than the figure standing at their front
In their eyes, her figure is that of a distant star's
Unreachable. Untouchable. An existence that should, by all accounts, be included in the passage of myths and legends in the modern times
Yet this woman chose to abandon her place in the Throne of Heroes to being a Guardian for the World. Why? Perhaps that question will never be answered
"Caladbolg"
She release her hold
The sky flashed an azure blue. The sword's myriad of color illuminated in the dark. They shone their brilliant radiance like shades of a Kaleidoscope as the arrow exploded forward.
A gargantuan wave of pressure propelled the projectile above the sound limit, spanning the distance between their location and the town by a mere fraction of a second
There was a small supersonic explosion as it reached its target. Several seconds of silence to confirm the target's death passed in tense silence
In the darkness, a light flared up like a rising sun
A second explosion rocked the clearing, wiping the town off the map
"Well?"
"Our target's still alive" Archer sighed "He stopped the arrow's explosion at first, so I had to detonate them manually"
"That's a first" The other Counter Guardian rest a hand on the automatic rifle he carried, slapping a mag onto it "On retrospect, big old CF wouldn't have to call for all of us like this if the anomaly can be taken out in one shot, so it makes sense"
A sense of annoyance wafted through her. Do they even have the time to banter when there is a potential apocalyptic threat hanging on the horizon?
"Move out. Surround the anomaly's position" Turning to the rest of the Counter Guardians, Archer ordered "Create a parameter if you have to. Failure to do this will cause the timeline to be pruned, so we're on a time limit"
"Yes, Ma'am Archer/ Yes, Ma'am/ Yes, Mommy"
"I fucking heard that"
With a few of them grunting, the remaining Counter guardians made their first move, dashing at speed above the sound barrier, rapidly closing in toward the now ruined town of Misaki. Under the moonlight, the glint of their weapons can be seen
Archer dematerialized her bow and Traced a pair of black and white falchion in successive manner. Standing atop the hill and ovelooking the rest of the red army advancing down toward the valley, she turned around
"Majin"
From the dark, a shadow shifted. The last remaining Counter guardians raised her head, the long oriental blade at her side thrumming with barely contained excitement
"Yes?"
"You go with me. We'll stay at the outer perimeter to act if needed"
"Understood"
The shadow followed her. The pair of saber and archer clad in red made their way toward the destination range
Neither of them would anticipate what happened next
<><><><><>
I gazed at the barren wasteland before me
Once a moderately large town, it was wiped out of the map with just one sho
The fun thing about Caladbolg is that it's supposedly a landscape-destroying Noble Phantasm
This means at least 60% of the damage will not be directed to the actual target, but to their surroundings. Used as a tool it can be surprisingly versatile in manipulating the battlefield to one's advantage
My footstep echoed across the desolate plain. bringing with it a haunting melody of death
Around me were charred human bones from the people who used to live in this town. They could not escape the explosion's radius
I tried to ignore the children's corpse on the ground
Their flesh still remained, burnt from the heat, but not enough not to be completely incinerated
The sound of my footstep halted. I stopped at a familar location
The house where I lived in is now in shambles
The neighborhood I'm in reduced to a pile of charred rubbles
The school in the distance...nothing more than ashes
A lone tear rolled down my face
Whlie this look like an err in judgement to use it in place of any Anti-Unit Noble Phantasms at their disposal, the archer who fired the shot clearly knew what they were doing, if not being experienced in the art of hunting itself
After all, with the buildings wiped out and the forest razed to the ground, the chance of me hiding myself became sinificantly lesser in their perspective.
Thus, if I did not survive the blast, they would have an easier timie tracking me down
That's what they thought anyway
"Fuck"
The average Magus swore
"Shit. Fucking hell. Honey jam. Donkey's ass. Cocaine. Pussy flower"
He swore and swore and swore out of frustration, even words that are meaningless in nature came out of the Magus's mouth with a dark toxicity comparable to the vilest of curses
"Why must it always be me?!" I threw my hands upward "It's not my fault I get the First Magic! It's not my fault I get my soul transported to this fucked up world! It's not my fault any of this goddamn happened! I don't even want to be a god!"
It's unfair.
Yet there was no response. The ashes floating in the air is my only answer, leaving a taste just as bitter in my mouth
"But why do I always have to be the universe's whip toy?" I said to myself "I tried and tried and tried. I secluded myself in a town and never so much as made an attempt on influencing Canon just to stay out of your way. I did not meant to harm the Human Order in anyway"
I could understand it if only I have to suffer the consequence
But do these people deserve it? Those whom I have never met, have never talked to, have never so much as heard about? Are all these nameless fates just a mean to an end?
No matter your intent, the result will be the same. Life simply does not care
"In the end, just as everything's about to be resolved something just have to swoop in and...and ruin all of it"
There was no answer
The town was destroyed
The people I know, all compelled to eliminate me
All that effort to be average, all amount to nothing
...
I felt tired
So it's all meaningless in the end. I had already grown too strong, past the point where the actions I took would be considered a mere threat
"Fine then"
I took a deep breath and compose myself. Right now there's no need to get worked up over it.
"After all, no matter what the World say, I am still an average Magus"
What is the essence of a person? Their body? Their mind? Their soul? A philosophical debate sprung up around this subject, and it is concluded that the deciding factor behind it is something we have not yet to comprehend
Am I right to assume that somewhere deep down I am still the same person before coming to this universe, or is the me right now merely a hollow shell of my former humanity, where I had grown into the perfect being that the system had praised me as?
It does not matter how everyone perceive you as long as you believe in your 'true' self. That is, the self you believe in. That is the conclusion I came up with
"Yes. I am...normal"
Those words, once spoken as denial, now stood firm as one's final resolve. A flimsy reassurance in the self.
My hand clenched with burning frustration
Every motion of my fingers can alter the principles of Magic. Every words I spoke is enough to manipulate the working of the universe. My mere presence is considered the greatest threat to ever grace the multiverse
But so what?
"And I will stay normal, no matter what people say otherwise. Because fuck the world!" Out of spite, I screamed at the last part
"About time, (Y/n)!" Said the World happily
"Kya!"
Shiki sat on a pile of rubble next to me. Her gaze convey slight amusement
She's still alive after tanking that attack?
Seeing my gaze, the incarnation of the Root merely sighed
"There was this one saying I remembered from a time past" Shiki hummed, not noticing my twitchy limbs "[You can believe what you want but that doesn't make it the truth]. Ridiculous, isn't it?...to state there exists an absolute truth in this universe with such confidence..."
"What constitutes the truth? That is the better question" Her feet touched the ground, bringing herelf closer to me
"Just because you are right, it doesn't make you not wrong" She stopped. Our gazes met, her eyes appraising me in a rare bout of seriousness "Indeed, unlike others you do not act upon a pretense of preestablished verity. You at first deny the things you call lies, and eventually accept them as your own truth. I think it's what attracts me to you - It's not something most people would accept as common sense"
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying it doesn't matter. My words are not laws of absolution. Neither is the world's perception of you. Everything is impermanent. That is why- it's best if you believe in yourself"
I stared
"For such a complex opening statement, the conclusion is surprisingly simple"
"But that is a conclusion most people failed to grasp. I wouldn't call it simple"
"No, I suppose it doesn't" I shook "But it's never good to be in denial"
"What about denial?" Shiki smiled "A man, or woman, or child, or bee, is obligated to their own version of the truth. So what if the things you believe in are lies? That does not make them more false than facts. That makes then an ideal"
"And ideals are what makes you a person"
Ideals
Something about the word struck a chord within me
If my ideal is to be average, and if the world were to oppose me for that, I cannot do anything about it.
But if the world want to crush my ideal and let it in shambles, I woulf fight back with teeth and claw to hold onto the dream that defines my existence
"So you don't think I'm a threat?" My lips trembled
"There is a distinctive difference between being a threat and being a danger. Why does it matter in the first place?"
A deep breath escaped me.
Indeed. It seems my resolve was made
"Thanks, Shiki" I nodded
"You're welcome" Her eyes shifted behind me "But gratitude can be expressed later when this is over"
An unpleasant reminder to our current situation
I narrowed my eyes at the rapidly approaching sea of red
So immersed was us in the conversation that we didn't notice them. Right now the Counter Guardians is a more pressing concern.
Each of them receive strength proportinately to the scale of the threat they were sent to deal with. In this situation it would not be too presumptious to think they went all out
Dealing with them will be easy. But...I don't want it that way
"I will fight them without Magic"
"Eh?"
It seems like Shiki is taken off guard by my declaration
"It is as you said, an average Magus would never resort to the use of such broken abilities" I nodded, reassured in myself "He would use some normal aspect of Mystery, in this case, basic Magecraft. He would not unleash all his restraint, but rather fight them at his weakest"
"Thank you Shiki. It is courtesy to you that I realize I must make do with that fact" My footstep echoed as I slowly made my way to the front while facing them
"N-no, that's not what I-"
Without waiting, I dashed forward, my foot sinking into the ground as I propelled myself through the air
Three branch of Mysteries was unleashed at the same time
[Reinforcement] to strengthen my body
[Thought Parpatition] to overclock my thought process
[Mystic Eyes of Death Perception] to kill
My speed accelerated to match the speed of light. The ground exploded behind me
Hundreds of Counter Guardians descended from the sky, casting shadows on the ground as their crimson cloaks billowed in the night's wind. At my rapidly approaching form they all readied their weapons
"Trace. On"
Three spells were subsequently cast in less than a tenth of a nanosecond
[Gradation Air]
[Alteration]
[Alchemy]
I leaped with a single step, ascending thousands of meters forward in a blink of an eye to intercept the airborne Counter guardians. The knife in my arm was swung up, cutting through hundreds of them with one slash
Using their bodies as stepping stone I leapt off to another target. Spinning in the air I tear my way through a dozens more of them before stabbing the knife through a guardian's heart and kicked him off to another one that knocked them out.
Counterattacks are imminent. Dozens of ranged amarments point in my direction. With a click of a trigger they fired, releasing a storm of bullets travelling at hypersonic toward me
Six reinforced Black Keys appeared in my hand. I twisted my body midair, evading the projectiles and used the momentum to fling the blades toward the nearest targets while using the falling dead bodies as foothold.
Six consecutive sound of flesh being pierced sounded accompanied by six resounding explosions, but I igored them in favor of landing on the ground and continue moving
That's at least two hundreds of them down
Several thousands more to go
"Avalon"
A glimmer of gold flashed in the darkness
The divine barrier manifested through (Y/n)'s skillful manipulation of the Fae Mystery, blocking off all incoming attacks coming his way.
He stomped his foot and launched past the descending rain of attacks, the Noble Phantasms all warped to another dimension outside of this world upon making contact with the golden aura surrounding him
Berserker's jagged sword formed in my hand
The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception shone in the night, reflecting a primal desire to kill
"Nine Lives Blade Works"
With instantaneous precision nine hundreds of them were cut down
Throwing away the sword, I summoned two crimson red lance
"Gae Bolg Alternative"
One red flash pierced through the lines of Counter Guardians
Another ripped through the fabric of reality, erasing all standing in their way
Discarding the spears, I raise my hand to trace a bow
"Tauropolos: Bow of Heaven"
Thousands of arrows soared through the sky and hit their mark with absolute precision
Without pausing I trashed the bow
Their numbers sure have reduced, but-
It's nowhere near enough
More firepower
"Excalibur"
"Vasavi Shakti"
"Gandr"
Three Noble Phantasms were utilized with barely any effort. Three explosions that rocked the foundation of the World. Three forces that erased three quarter of the crimson army before me in one fell swoop
The island of Japan disappeared off the map with the attack
The army of Counter Guardians advanced forward, filling out the gaps left by their fallen comrades
I held out a hand and Trace three more of them
"Rhongomyniad"
One to split spacetime in half
"Tsumukari Muramasa"
One to cut through destiny
"Kusanagi Tsurugi"
One to severe the heaven
Three divine treasures was called forth, stabbing into the three corners of the world's boundary. Without hesitation I activated their power
Several continents was erased to ash and fire. Half the Earth was now up in flame
With the remnant of the army on their last leg, I summoned another sword in my hand
A sword that heralds the start of the apocalypse, the end of humanity, and the twilight of the world in a single swing
"Ragnarok: Wrath of the world's End"
With the final slash, I severed the Earth's Bounded Field in two
The simmering fire roared up with renewed fury as half of the world was encased in a blazing fire, surrounded by magma that erupted from the deepest pit of Hell
The other half froze over, trapped in an eternal blizzard colder than the arctic sky of Niflheim as wind reminiscent of lady death's washed over them
Everything seemed to stop. In one slash, the entire army from before was now nowhere to be seen
Freeze or burn. Burn or freeze. Death is inevitable in two extremes
Despite this, the Counter guardians did not give up
Even when they are all wiped out, the force summoning them refuse to stop
I watched as more of their members begin manifesting out of thin air
It was an endless wave of the World's resource
No matter how much Noble Phantasms he kept sending their way...no matter how much of them he killed...more will keep on coming
'Man. I'm getting tired of this'
(Y/n) knew this perfectly well
'It's be simple if I can use stronger stuff, but that wouldn't be counted as Magecraft anymore'
Would it be possible to use "Nine Bullets Lost Work"? I shook my head and discard the possibility. The strongest of them are geared toward dealing with Foreign Concepts, and the rest are weaker than your average Noble Phantasms. Using them would result in nothing
Oh well
"Gates of Babylon: Open"
The air shimmered as a wall of golden portals emerged from thin air, having been summoned by me.
With a snap of my finger, an infinite amount of them exploded with power.
Endless amount of arrows, spears, swords, halberds, daggers, hammer, axe, and other tools whose forms are too queer to even be perceived by the human eye rained down on the battlefield, tearing the Counter guardian's formation like it was wet paper itself. Blood and gore flew through the air before they were turned back to mana
Summoning a sword, I dashed in to join the slaughter
Since I "killed" them using the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, the Counter Guardians that were taken out would not come back. This can only means their number is not finite
The Counter Force is a multiversal phenomenon. A multiverse can contain somewhere between multiple to beyond infinite numbers of existning universes. Within those realities contains many different version of Alaya's who recruited many different "Counter Guardians" to her rank
Right at this moment, countless of them are being poured over to this one world to deal with me, streaming through the gap between alternate realities and focusing their forces to overwhelm the now certified anomaly inside
Without the Second Magic I would not be able to seal the gaps between dimensions, so attempting to stop that is meaningless
My thought process was once again interrupted as two unknown shadows burst forth from the cloud of smoke
My sword was deflected as one of them tackled me. I threw him off, only to be grabbed by the head and smashed toward the ground
With a burst of Mana I freed myself. I jumped back to out some distance between me and the new arrivals
One glance at them and I could tell they are a rank above the rest.
Their movement graceful, their endurance astounding, and their strength formidable. Beating the two would require some real effort
[Appraisal]
My eyes flashed a deep blue as I ascertained them
Ultimate Counter Guardian (Ruler): RICARDO
Ultimate Counter Guardian (Rider) : SHAGGY
Both are barefist fighter. My instinct screamed at me 80% of the Noble Phantasms available from Magecraft won't be able to affect them
They are...:to put it bluntly...not average...
Ricardo disappeared. My eyes registered a flicker of movement at the edge of my vision. Before I know it, his fist was inchest from my face
A colossal wave of blue energy pushed me backward as I blocked the punch. Kicking him in the stomach I sent the man back before gazing upward, just in time to see Shaggy executing a drop kick at my face
"ZOINKS!"
Shiki teleported forward and drove her palm into his abdomen, causing him to be blown backward and leave me standing behind her confused
"? Aren't you suppose to be here for the spectacle or something?"
"Ah. Don't worry. Since you look so busy I decide to lend you a hand" She smiled at me, drawing her sword "I just get impatient watching you take care of this is all. You can buy me ice cream as thanks later"
She disappeared in the same direction as the Counter Guardian, leaving me to deal with the other man by myself

*Insert Ricardo Milos gif*
A sense of wariness passed through me
Ricardo Milos...how should I say it?
The man is not a legend in history
But at the same time, he is a legend only remembered in people's heart
A forgotten hero, who took on the duty of infinitely dancing his hypnotic movement to enchant the world, thus delaying the apocalypse that befell mankind
His Noble Phantasm is a pasive ability
[Perpetual Dancing of the Memetic Force]
It can nullify any kind of spatial inteference on a conceptual level, spanning from infinitesimal to unlimited, just simply by keeping on dancing
In normal situations I would simpy think of something that can intercept this ability. Such as exhausting his form or bind him to a concept to intefere with his movement. Anything to hinder his ability to dance would enable me to kill this Ultimate Counter guardian in one shot
But there's the problem
I can't interrupt Ricardo Milos in any way, shape, or form
Because
He
Just
Won't
Stop
Dancing
I slashed at him. The slash disappeared into nothingness. Twisting around I stabbed at him. Same result. Even with Reinforced limbs the kinetic force generated instantly dispersed upon making contact with Ricardo
He dodged the rest of my attacks with ease, swaying those erotic hips of his in a hypnotizing manner before his limb stretched to their limit as he kicked me back
I flew several miles out to the edge of the area before crashing violently to a half-destroyed mountain. A cloud of dust formed around the perimeter of the area of impact
A hand rose up and grip the edge. From the crater I emerged with a disgruntled expression
"Ricardo Milos...so you want to dance, huh?"
I ripped my shirt and threw them to the ground
"Then let's have a dance battle, motherfucker"
"MUSIC PLEASE!"
"You got it boy!"
We turned our head at the voice of the third figure who just arrived
Compared to the first two, he isn't as bizarre
However...
Ultimate Counter Guardian (Caster): Rick Astley
Something tell me he isn't going to be as an easy opponent as Ricardo
"Well" Rick smiled
"You know the rules, and so do I"
The music started
