Completed Books
Below are the books I have completed so far along with a short review.
more eerie then scary. Good start.
certified spooky stuff. recommended.
Twist ending saved this from 1 star
Really suspenseful mystery. Total Classic
Corny, cringe, and animals were upsetting.
Not really scary but silly and fun.
This is so corny and not in a funny way.
The Main character is the real creep. 😡
Very meta. Very fun. Recommend.
Overall series review, so far
4/62 Books read so far
Goosebumps is meant for 3rd-7th graders, so I am not expecting these books to be very scary but I still expect them to have an interesting and engaging story.
Cons: the books are constantly feeding us false chapter ending cliff hangers that seem like they are finally going to start up the spooky stuff. However, when you start the next chapter, it usually ends up being nothing at all. For me, this is what really takes away from these book. When it comes to kid lit, I usually want the thrills and excitement to start right away, and some of these books just didn't deliver on that.
Pros: However, once the we Do start getting to the scary bits, these books can be really good. Usually its just campy funny, but other times, they can get pretty gruesome.
Overall: So far, pretty 3/5 series. Some of the books are real thrillers and some are just boring. Its really hit or miss on if you are going to get a good book or not. I imagine adults who re-read this series, usually just go right to the good books and skip the stinkers.
Recommended for light, cozy reading with low stakes and silly thrills.
