BBNO$ Concert

There is this weird phenomenon online where people really like to hate on this artist. When i try to understand the why behind it all, the only answers I can really find is that he is "corny", "goofy", and "cringe." I don't really subscribe to these ideas. To me, being goofy and silly feels authentic. Being cringe isn't real. The only thing that is real is being your most authentic self without the influence of other's judgement. This whole idea of cringe is one of the reasons I am trying to step away from social media.
I think its one of the reasons I actually really enjoy BBNO$. He is just a goofy dude trying to have fun while promoting this music.
This was at our show but my picture of it looks terrible so here is one from online.
I made some bracelets to trade! I had fun making these.
"Gen Z Eminem" in purple
Yellow "Gigolo" bracelet
"Antidepressants" in blue
"Fuck yo agenda, protect them dolls" in trans colors
"Yezzir" with red and yellow stars
"Retire off this wrist" in green
BBNO$ cosplayed Miku on social media for the release of his song "check" so I decided to get out my old Miku wig and cosplay Miku. I was honestly super surprised to see a bunch of other Miku cosplayers.
We got to the venue SUPER EARLY because the show was at the anthem. A ton of shows have been at the Anthem since its opened in 2017 and tickets are always super affordable. Despite that, I HATE the Anthem as a venue. There entry/line situation sucks so much, you basically have to get there at noon for a show that has doors open at 6pm in order to get even an okay spot for the show. The only thing I really think the Anthem has going for it is the affordable tickets and they have pretty good food inside. But I would take Jiffy Lube over The Anthem literally any day when it came to affordable concert tickets.
The opening of the show had a bunch of visuals that were telling the narrative story of BBNO$'s rise to popularity, the surge of online hate, his short break from music, and his return. This sequences ended with the stage becoming lit up with a grass hill prop, re-creating the image of Windows XP's Bliss wallpaper. The words "I don't give a fuck" burn on the grassy hill on the monitor. I feel like this really calls back to what i was talking about in the beginning of this post. This show is a message of rejection of the newer online culture of hating anything that is "cringe. BBNO$ doesn't care and just wants to be his authetic goofy self and make music.
"Bucolic Green Hills" or "Bliss" by Charles O'rear as seen on Windows XP.
BBNO$'s stage set up, recreating "Bliss" with the words "I don't give a Fuck" burning on the hill side.
Up top, I have to say the visuals for this show was top tier. There was a lot of 90's webcore glitches going on along with some great lasers. I really feel like it went really well with the whole message of the show I think. That desire to return to a time when the net was a place to be your goofy authentic self. Honestly, The visual presentation of the show was probably THE highlight. I almost wish someone would post the whole concert online just so I can watch the visuals again.
As for the playlist, it was great! A lot of BBNO$'s music is catchy and has a lot of dance vibes. So I really feel like it just creates a super fun party atmosphere. There was a lot of my favorites played like: Yezzir, C'est La Vie, Come to Brazil, It Boy, Gigolo, ADD, Meant to Be, Antidepressants, Edamame, 1-800, Bing Bong, Two, Boom, Check.
One of the big highlights for me was the 1-800 song. I love Iron Mouse both as an entertainer and a streamer. It was honestly so cool seeing a song she is features in on suck a big stage like this.
Even though a lot of BBNO$'s music is party music, he does have some slower songs that I really enjoy like "Meant to Be". I think musically, these are some of his best songs, and it was really nice to see these songs showcased.
SIDE NOTE: BBNO$ took his shirt off near the end of the show. Dude is fucking jacked. He has a Bachelor of Human Kinetics (like a fitness health degree) so it makes sense. He looks so lanky in his videos so I wasn't expecting abs, lol.
But yeah that is it. Honestly, GREAT TIME. I would totally see him again if he came out to the DMV again.
