Promoting Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace
The Stockton Unified School District World of Work Program (WOW) is a job readiness training program funded by Stockton Unified School District, the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), and the California Department of Education (CDE) to serve students 16-21 at each of our high schools and the Young Adult Program. Students receive an array of services and opportunities that include: Job Exploration Counseling, Workplace Readiness Training, and Work Based Learning Experiences. Student referrals come from Special Education Teachers/Case Managers.

Job exploration services provide an individualized, timely, and systemic process by which a participant seeking employment gains knowledge of career paths and job opportunities. Students identify strengths and barriers to employment, and viable vocational options.
Workplace Readiness Training consists of soft skills that are needed for successful employment, including communication with coworkers, having a positive attitude about work, decision making while on the job, conflict resolution skills, and problem-solving techniques
Work-Based Learning Experience uses real work settings to provide students with an opportunity to explore work in a competitive, integrated environment
We partner with local businesses to provide students with Work-Based Learning Experiences. They are able to work alongside the employers as well as the employees, and they are paid through the WOW Program. After completing their time with the WOW program, the employers might choose to hire them on as permanent employees.
