This game pays homage to The Elder Scrolls (TES) video game series. I was inspired to adapt the setting to 5E D&D after watching Critical Role run a two-shot series. Set down your controller and pick up your dice as you venture into the land of Tamriel.
The Heart of Stone story arc takes place in the Province of Hammerfell that has declared its independence as the Cyrodilic Empire has finally fallen after the disastrous White-Gold Concordant and the civil war up in Skyrim. It is times like these, times of chaos and change, that the course of history may be forged by those bold enough to venture forth. The PCs will have a short introductory adventure (just like the games) and then the wide, wide world will be open to explore.
This is a classic fantasy setting with its very own rich history and lore, though you do not need to be a die-hard TES fan like myself to appreciate it. The campaign will be an open world (aka sandbox) approach where the heroes will, for better or worse, choose their own path. My style of play is to tailor make a gaming experience to fit an audience or theme. In this case to simulate an Elder Scrolls setting to a TTRPG crowd so they can experience the world in a whole new way. There will be plenty of combat, opportunities to explore, secrets to unearth, engaging NPCs to get to know, and the occasional puzzle or mystery to solve.
The Nine Races of Tamriel that are playable in the video game series have been recreated here in a 5E D&D format.
