Although not an extensive list, cricket requires a few different facilities and equipment not normally found in other sports. First and foremost, there must be a good field to play on, typically in the shape of a rectangle or oval. Within the center of the field is arguably the most important part of it: the cricket pitch. This roughly 22-yard length pitch is made from either concrete, clay, or mowed lawn. Since it is where most of the action takes place, it is imperative that it is made correctly to ensure fair and safe play. The boundary of the field is necessary to have marked as well since it determines how far a player needs to hit to receive a certain number of runs. Other items that contribute to a great facility for cricket is a large stadium with several screens throughout it allowing for fans to enjoy an exciting experience, as well as a proficient, international broadcasting channel due to the large number of viewers that watch matches regularly.

There are several types of equipment required to play the sport. Cricket balls are typically made of leather and have a specific size and weight depending on the type of competition. Cricket bats are made of wood and have specific size and weight requirements as well. Other general pieces of equipment include the stumps and bails for the wickets, protective gear including helmets, pads, guards, and gloves, and fielding equipment such as caps, sunglasses, and gloves.
