Wildlife of South Africa
Known as “the rainbow nation” due to its large population of multiple ethnic groups and different nationalities, South Africa is a most advanced country with developed infrastructures and technologies, modern amenities, wide roads and multi-lane tarred highways. It is considered to be the most advanced country on the African continent.
There are many reasons to visit South Africa: the wildlife, golden beaches, some of the world's best surf, spectacular scenery ranging from mountains to deserts, eco-systems found nowhere else in the world, an opportunity to experience African culture first-hand - and one of the least expensive holiday destinations you'll find. Travel through some of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in the hemisphere, like the “Garden Route”.. Go on the best safaris in the world to “The Kruger National Park”.
There are 11 official languages spoken in South Africa, but the main language is still English. One of the other languages that is spoken here is Afrikaans, which derives from the Dutch.
As for the weather, in Johannesburg the weather is mild all the year round with rain in summer and cool evenings. Durban, the largest port (a paradise), is hot and humid. Cape Town is usually warm but very windy.
South Africans are a very patriotic and proud nation and are passionate about their country.
Contrary to what is spread on many television channels worldwide, South Africa is as safe as any other country, provided that some precautions are taken. Firstly you need to know the particular area that you are going to specially at night, as some areas in major cities are particularly prone to crime and foreigners are particularly vulnerable. Do not go wandering around desert street corners, during the day or night. Lock your doors at night and during the day and do not open the door to strangers. By adhering to some of these safety measures, you can still enjoy a beautiful country that has so much to give and where the people are remarkably warm and hospitable.
