The White Panther Party is an anti-racist, anti-authoritarian organization
fighting for liberation through community self-defense, mutual aid, and
grassroots organizing.
Founded in 1968 in solidarity with the Black Panther Party, white people organized to fight racism, capitalism, and state violence from within their own communities. We are reviving this movement for 2026.
We organize locally, think globally, and build power from the ground up.

OUR PRINCIPLES
Anti-Racist
We center the leadership and survival of Black people, people of color, and Indigenous communities. We organize white people to fight racism, not to lead multiracial spaces.
Anti-Authoritarian
No hierarchies, no cult of personality. We make decisions together. Everyone's voice matters.
Pro-Liberation
We fight for LGBTQIA+ folks, working people, immigrants, disabled folks, sex workers, and anyone targeted by state violence or neglect.
Community-First
We solve problems through mutual aid and direct action, not charity. We build with people, not for them.
Harm Reduction
We meet people where they are. We don't judge. We build safety and care together.
Anti-Fascist
We actively oppose and resist white supremacy, fascism, and all forms of bigotry.
---
WHAT WE ARE NOT
We are NOT:
• White supremacist or fascist
• A replacement for existing mutual aid work in your community
• A place for lone wolves, accelerationists, or people looking for violence
If you're here to harm people or spread bigotry, you're not welcome.

HISTORY & WHY WE'RE HERE
In 1968, Huey P. Newton of the Black Panther Party issued a challenge to white people who believed in liberation: organize your own communities instead of trying to lead or speak for Black people.
The White Panther Party answered that call.
Founded in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, they organized white working-class and counterculture folks around anti-racism, anti-capitalism, and solidarity with the Black Panthers. They ran survival programs—free food, free housing, free transportation. They fought police violence. They used culture and music to reach people.
Most importantly, they understood their role: support the leadership of the most oppressed, not compete with it.
The original WPP was repressed by FBI COINTELPRO, torn apart by internal
conflict, and eventually dissolved. But the principles lived on.
