The Weeping Star...
The night sky has always captivated human imagination, sparking myths and legends that have been passed down through generations. Among these captivating stories is the tale of a celestial phenomenon known as the weeping star.
In ancient lore, the weeping star was said to be a star that shed tears for the suffering of the loss of a loved one. Some believed it was a sign of impending doom, while others saw it as a symbol of compassion and empathy from the heavens above.
It all began with Theia, the Goddess of light and Hyperion, the Titan God of Sun. They fell in love because they both shared the same passions. They enjoyed tending to their people whether that be on Mount Olympus or helping the mortals on Earth. The two had quickly become husband and wife, since they couldn't wait to start a family. Theia birthed three beautiful children, Helios the sun God, Selene the moon Goddess, and Uranus, the sky God.
The whole family was known as Euryphaessa which means "wide shining." Each member has a distinct talent and passion that made this family so special. They were the most unique family to bless Mount Olympus, until tragedy struck their home. Hyperion tried to influence the mortals in order to gain their following over Zeus. This was a direct defiance over Zeus who is more powerful, therefore the two God's settled it through direct combat. Zeus was proven to be the most powerful after he struck Hyperion with lightning leaving him to suffer in agonizing pain. Theia came to his rescue, but not in enough time. By the time she reached him weakness had dawned on him leaving his body incapacitated.
Theia knew that Hyperion was trying to do good on Earth, so after her husbands death she went to carry on his legacy. Theia's world had fallen apart and she was devastated, but she decided to use this pain to help the mortals. She descended down to Earth and when she landed her body hit the ground tears started to shed out of her. The unusual part was that the tears had turned into precious stones.
These tears were a way to provide hope to the mortals on Earth. That even in the midst of suffering something good can come about. The people who were blessed by the stones were known to be very lucky. They were seen as a sign of encouragement and power. Proving to the mortals that Hyperion's influence was good and that she would continue to carry on this lesson throughout her lifetime.
As time went Theia decided to keep her identity hidden, creating the idea of the weeping star rather than the Goddess Theia. It brought more meaning to the mortals on Earth to know that they had been blessed by a humble higher power.
