KNOW BEFORE YOU GO - FERRY EDITION
Ferryhopper lists all the ferry routes between the islands and the mainland.
It is best to book tickets on the ferries companies website, prior to showing up to the dock.
If there is a speed-boat option, take that. It significantly cuts down travel time (more time for vacationing!).
Smaller ferries don't have many seating options - if you are prone to motion sickness, get to the dock early to get a good seat outside. There is indoor seating, but it gets very hot.
There is a nice dinner and drink selection for the longer/overnight ferries.
