(How to be a good Role-player)
For newcomers, veterans, and those returning to the craft.
Welcome to our story. Whether you are finding your voice for the first time or simply brushing the dust from old pages, these guidelines will help ensure our world remains immersive, respectful, and alive with shared creativity.
1. Stay In Character (IC)
Keep your words and actions true to your character’s nature. Use ((double brackets)) or //slashes// for out-of-character (OOC) talk when necessary.
2. No Godmodding
You control only your own character. Never dictate another player’s actions, feelings, or fate without their consent.
3. No Metagaming
Your character cannot act on information they did not learn in character. Player knowledge ≠ character knowledge.
4. Respect Post Order
If writing in turns, wait for others before posting again unless everyone agrees otherwise. It keeps scenes balanced and fair.
5. Quality over Speed
Take time to craft your post. A few thoughtful lines of description often carry more weight than rapid replies.
6. Communication & Consent
If a scene may affect another character significantly (injury, romance, conflict, death, etc.), always discuss it OOC first.
7. Descriptive, Not Dominant
Be expressive — paint the world, the emotion, the tension — but leave space for others to react. Roleplay is shared storytelling.
8. Match the Tone & Setting
Stay true to the atmosphere and lore of the world. Respect the genre and mood you’ve stepped into.
9. Fade to Black When Needed
If a scene turns mature or graphic, fade to black or summarize with discretion. All players must be comfortable.
10. Keep OOC Drama Out of Character
Conflict belongs in story, not in chat. Treat all players with kindness and patience.
11. Be Flexible
Stories twist and turn — let them. Not every scene will go as planned, and that’s often where the best moments are found.
12. Above All — Have Fun
This is a living story shaped by many voices. Enjoy the journey, honor each other’s creativity, and write with heart.
