Post-doctoral researchers

Dr. Gopinathan Janarthanan

Gopi is a research scientist with expertise in 3D bioprinting, bioinks, material development and synthesis, modifications, microscopical analysis and imaging of 3D printed hydrogel samples. He was working as a Associate Research Scientist at EcoWorld Pharm Co. Ltd., South Korea and research appointments at Seoul National University of Science and Technology previously.

Dr. Kamil Elkhoury

Kamil is a post-doctoral scholar with expertise in biomaterials, bioink formulation and bioprinting of soft tissues. Prior to joining the Vijay Lab, he was a post-doctoral fellow at LAAS-CNRS, France. He obtained his PhD from the University of Lorraine (France), with visiting doctoral studentships at Harvard University (USA) and University of Aveiro (Portugal).

Dr. Jawaher AlYammahi

Jawaher is a post-doctoral scholar with expertise in biomass valorization, plant biology, food processing, and food technology. She graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Khalifa University in 2023. She also holds a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Khalifa University.

Dr. Vinod Nagarajan

Vinod is a research associate with expertise in molecular biology, in vitro cell/tissue culture and animal studies. He was working as a Senior Researcher at Dt&C BioGroup in South Korea before joining NYUAD. He also held postdoctoral positions at Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences, Chonbuk National University and University of Maryland.

Dr. Ranjit Singh

Ranjit is a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flows, conjugate heat transfer, and numerical modeling. He was working as a postdoctoral fellow at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) before joining NYUAD. He also held postdoctoral positions at IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay.

PhD Students

Kaushik Sunder

Kaushik joined the Vijay Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi in Fall 2021 to pursue his PhD. He has an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from PES University, India. Kaushik aspires to work in cross-disciplinary translational research at the interface of Academia and Industry.

Rashik Chand

Rashik joined the Vijay Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi in Fall 2024 to pursue his PhD. He has a B.S. in Bio Engineering from NYU Abu Dhabi. Rashik was associated with the Vijay Lab since his sophomore year as undergraduate research assistant, and is a proud alumni of lab continuing his journey as a PhD student. His capstone project was on 3D printing of small diameter vascular grafts. He also did a honors research project on 3D printing of Corneal Stroma Equivalent.

Renz Gabriel Garduque

Renz did his masters in Advanced Materials from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He has a bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Philippines. He joined the Vijay Lab in the fall of 2024 to pursue his PhD in the department of biomedical engineering. His master's thesis was on conversion of polyethylene into carbon fibers for 3D printing applications. He has also worked on cellulosic hydrogels for controlled release.

Jiarui joined the Vijay Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi in Fall 2020 to pursue his PhD with a focus on 3D printed conductive biomaterials for neural tissue engineering. He has an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a special track in micro/nano area from Columbia University and B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nottingham.

Susheem did his masters in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi Technological University and his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal University Jaipur. He joined the Vijay Lab in the fall of 2020 to pursue his PhD in the department of mechanical engineering where he will be working in the area of 3D bioprinting, scaffold design and bone tissue engineering. He is passionate about translating his research into real world applications which can help people by improving their quality of life.
